Replacement pump and adding a SWG

Decided to return the RJ45 and get the RJ60 instead to give me more possible capacity and easier time on the SWG.

    Connection from pump to filter

Just thinking out loud. The Hayward EC 65 filter is 30 yr old technology. DE filter uses “fingers” which are hard to clean. Is there improved technology to be had in the filter area that I should consider given the rest of this revamp? The EC 65 is rated for 68GPM. Not sure this is compatible...

    Connection from pump to filter

Thanks all. I think what I will have to do is buy a bunch of fittings (relatively cheap thank goodness) and put this together like a puzzle.

    Connection from pump to filter

It was part of the package I bought with the original pump/ filter years ago. If I kept the same position with the pump outlet when I put the new pump in, i’d have to have a reducer in its place, given the 2” output from the pump going into the 1 1/2” female thread in the filter. Maybe it makes...

    Connection from pump to filter

Hi guys! Got the new Circupool VS pump and am looking into fitting it into the equipment setup. The current system includes a Hayward EC 65 DE filter and a Hayward Superpump. The picture attached shows the 1 1/2 inch plumbing between the pump and filter. It is a union I’ve not seen before. It...

Replacement pump and adding a SWG

At best I’ll have to position it in the horizontal run toward after the SWG heading toward the pipe leading underground.

Replacement pump and adding a SWG

Thanks Allen. As far as vertical mounting per my “plan” is there an issue with gases produced in the cell potentially rising into the filter and if so, would that potentially cause problems? Understood on the flow switch needing to be installed just before or after the celI. Instructions say I...

Replacement pump and adding a SWG

That was done by a local pool installation company who replaced my suction side lines two years ago. If you look closely, the original setup has the suction line coming from the ground right in front of the pump. I was not happy with the placement but they claimed it was fine... I think...

Replacement pump and adding a SWG

I think the vertical orientation may be best if that is an acceptable way to do it.

Replacement pump and adding a SWG

New Circupool VS pump and RJ45 SWG coming tomorrow. The pic shows the current plumbing (minus the obvious filter which is a Hayward EC65 DE. The inline chlorinator will obviously go. The pipe along the back is a drain from the filter to waste. Just trying to figure out the best arrangement. The...

    Biting the bullet

Will do Pat. BTW - an interesting tidbit - at one point in the user manual for the pump it slips up and refers to Pentair rather than Circupool. Interesting. Wonder if the Circupool is a rebranded Pentair?

Tax refunds are a wonderful thing! Hoping this “investment” winds up saving money in the long run. Hope you can swing the purchase soon. I’m excited to see how this all works out. Let me know how things go.

    Biting the bullet

Folks- Am going to remove my inline chlorinator and replace with the Circupool RJ-45. I’m also going to replace my noisy as heck 1hp Superpump and replace it with a VS pump.... but which one?? Circupool has a package that looks attractive but I don’t know anything about their pumps.? I think...
