    Pentair Intelliflo3 VSF RPM

Our setup requires 12GPM flow to keep the salt generating 24/7. Sadly, that’s right at the cusp of 1500 rpm in our case. So, I set it to 1600RPM (our equipment pad is far from our pool) and we get 14-16 GPM (depending on how clogged the hairnet in the skimmer gets). This is plenty enough to...

Lost Sunglasses Screw in Pool - Problem?

Do you have a robot or a vacuum? You can always throw a hairnet or stocking over the inlet of the vacuum and see if it winds up there. Alternatively, a pair of goggles and some dedication should do the trick :)

Use regular cartridge on a pentair Quad DE filter

It seems as though it may require more tinkering than I thought (not to mention the inlet piping looks a bit different (internal to filter, not the bulkhead fittings). I made a comparative table: The manifold top and bottom APPEAR identical in photos, however the part numbers are different...

Use regular cartridge on a pentair Quad DE filter

Any chance you printed a spare? :) I was just going to put a big red printed label on my MPV. No reason to remove a perfectly functioning MP valve for a 3-way one. I’m the only person that touches the equipment. Seems like I can switch quad DE 80 filters for the CCP 420 ones (more than...

Use regular cartridge on a pentair Quad DE filter

I’ll check it out/. Thanks! Yes, we do have the multiport valve, but I can also make sure we never put it on backwash.

Use regular cartridge on a pentair Quad DE filter

Just reviving this stagnant thread. For clarification, I can simply swap my Quad DE 80 cartridges for CCP420 (seems to be same size) ones and I’ll no longer have to use DE? @1poolman1 you mentioned you’ve done with before…. What modifications did you need to make, if any? I saw you mention 1”...

    What is this?

The electrical inspector spent a total of 3 minutes on site. I did speak with pool builder. They’re sending someone out to make the connections in November. Pool is closed until May, so no rush. Glad they took ownership of it, even if it took a few emails.

    What is this?

So I took a look this morning. Our heater, the anode and the pump itself are all tied into the bond loop. Do I need to tie that permacast Union into it as well? It passed inspection (I know that doesn’t mean much) as is. If you think it’s necessary, it’s a $12 job. Just seems odd they...

    What is this?

Hmm. That was never bonded. The anode in the plumbing is. Should I be concerned?

    What is this?

Never noticed this before. This coupler is between our pump inlet and main drain/skimmer diverter. Never saw this metal piece attached to it. What is it and what does it do?

Backwashing leaves DE on my Grids

Same here. Quad DE and I only backwash just prior to complete disassembly and cleaning so I can send the debris and old DE down the backwash house to keep much less DE scattered around my pad. Pollen aside (that was a mess, I’ll never open in April again!), the hairnets have been amazing. I...

New Pentair Quad DE and multiport 261055 not lining up

Not sure if this is helpful at all, but I snapped a picture of my filter connected to my MPV (it’s the hiflo version, but the connections appear to be the same).

Intellicenter with existing Superflo Vs, pre 11/2020

Just wanted to echo this as Jim talked me through my "re-wire". PB's electrician wired my heater incorrectly and now works perfectly through the IntelliCenter.

    Can I make my wfe-6 a 2 speed pump?

I read the EXACT same thing. I assumed he was on wife #6. Needed to see for myself.

    Diverter valve position question

Sorry. I did completely understand. I was just thinking aloud and curious if the PB set the lockout pins correctly :)

    Diverter valve position question

I’ll have to check the lockout pins. In theory, I should not be able to turn it clockwise anymore.

    Diverter valve position question

The drain should be operational, so I’ll play around. If I want 80/20 (skimmer/drain) then I would keep the handle facing between the pump inlet and skimmer, correct? Closer to the skimmer inlet.

    Diverter valve position question

I’m a bit perplexed here. This is the diverter valve just prior to pump. It is split between our main drain and skimmer. This is the current position and how it was left ever since install back in November: It appears as though the main drain isn’t in use in my pool. Just a few questions...

    Main Drain Cover: Anti-Entrapment?

Sadly, I lost my dive buddy years ago. He passed during a dive (not with me) where a bunch of mistakes were made (unfortunate they were his). I still haven’t lost my desire to get in the water. If you get to see him at Neptune’s reef, continue on down to key west and dive the vandenburg...

    Main Drain Cover: Anti-Entrapment?

My dive shop wouldn’t, but, I know of plenty that wouldn’t ask for certification. Go get certified. I have over 1500 dives and I’ve loved almost every single one of them!

Really? I’ve not actually seen those. I hope they have a filter on them somewhere.

    Main Drain Cover: Anti-Entrapment?

As a dive master, I can tell you these are fine for pool use. No worries about puffer lung inflation (lol). Unless your pool is deeper than 33’, you don’t have to worry about the gas compression. Keep in mind, breath rate is the major factor here. New divers are super excited and nervous and...

    DE in pool

My pleasure. That may also explain some of the additional DE showing up in the pool. Can be a result of overfilling.

Ever see a 20-year old filter?

Before I read your post, my first thought was “interesting, they are using a charcoal based pool filter”. Glad I went back and read it. It seems as though you’re safe and pool is clean. Glad to hear.
