Pool Build in Orlando - Looking for input

I just did an owner-build in Winter Garden, this price looks pretty good for your design with a builder. A couple things you may think about... Get more detail on the filter. With screen enclosure, 200sf will work for you, but make sure they aren't undersizing it. I would personally skip the...

    New Pool in Orlando

We got some rain today, that should help! Definitely keep up with it, do you have some zones you can run, or is the main line capped? On my last pool, I destroyed what was a gorgeous zoysa lawn because I didn't prioritize watering. This time I kept things up and running as much as possible, main...

Do you have your survey from when you purchased the home? Most municipalities want a survey level document. To get all of the easements and things, you generally need title work. When you buy a house, the mortgage company requires an ALTA survey. If you have that, you're 90% there, just sketch...

Definitely get silver and purple, also a bit of green, which wouldn't be something I would have wanted, but it's more like a fish scale green/silver and looks good. (3rd pic shows some of the iridescence, on the spillover, close to the bottom, you can see a little of the green-ish on one of the...

They didn't show up until about 3 yesterday to do the acid wash, the guy was here until 7, felt bad for him. Started filling the pool while he was working on the spa, then filled the spa and had 1 hose in the pool over night. I have a call this morning, then will run down and put the second hose...

It's Wet Edge - Prism Matrix, Deep Sea Blue. We swapped somewhere along the way. My wife saw this tile in a photo and we searched long and hard for it before finally finding it.

The guy this morning was mistaken, definitely an acid wash tomorrow and then start filling. So far so good though, below are some pics of some of my landscaping and the plaster.

Confused in Orlando we are refinishing Pool not sure what material to use..

I have talked to 5 plaster companies in the area, can't help you with the material you want, I am doing wet edge prism matrix, smaller pebbles and glass, should be a bit smoother than your current large pebble. We had stonescapes mini pebble in our previous pool and it was fine. Anyway, if you...

Owner Builder/DIY Build, Space Coast, FL

Congrats on your build. We're in the final stages of an owner build over on the west side of Orlando. I have done my own; sod scrape, irrigation, landscaping, and will do the new sod. I left the pool part to the pros. I am sure that the steel is not difficult, but I think you'll find that most...

I am very fortunate with my build, I have had good subs and minimal delays in the grand scheme of things. Hope your build picks up some steam and beats your expectations. I did the rocks with my front yard landscaping at the previous house, honestly, it is nice to not have to replace them, but...

This weekend included installing a sound system, trip to the nursery to pick up about 20 plants, and pick up and install 6 yards of mulch. Every time I do the mulch I say that I am not going to do it again, but there I was. My wife is a saint for single-handely manning the kiddos while I...

Got my inspection for grading today, all is well. The inspector actually said that my grading looks better than most that he sees with pool builders. I worked hard to do the finishing touches on it and raked every bit of disturbed ground last night. I get to do some landscaping this weekend, sod...

Florida woman finally building a pool!

I think that's reasonable, I think the second coat of pain could be good to be the very last thing they do though... that way it doesn't get scratched up or damaged in any way with the finishing touches of the work. I think electrical should be done before plaster, you want to have the ability...

Florida woman finally building a pool!

Unfortunately, I don't know if you have a good legal reasoning to withhold that payment. "extras" would be your best bet and could be argued that it includes electrical. From their standpoint, assuming they have paid all of their subs, they have spent most of the money on the pool at this point...

New Pool Build in Orlando, FL

I would do the larger heater. The filter is probably OK, you'll need to clean it more. A larger filter will require less maintenance. I did 200sf, but I do have a screen enclosure. Probably would have gone large without the screen.

OK, just got word that my plaster will be next week. A bit of a bummer, but still gives me time to make the party. Tested my fill water today CC - 1ppm PH - 8.2 TA - 180 CH - 200 Not too surprising other than the TA. I am sure that while I battle that new plaster PH rise that issue will...

Inspections passed, called the surface contractor, they will get the pool cleaned out (probably tomorrow), but unlikely that the surface will get done this week, probably will be next week. She was going to check all of their schedules and see if she could get us in, but I am not holding out too...

It may have been possible, but the niche has 3 pipes, crammed in the small column. The coping would have had to come out, then the gunite shell of the column would have to be chipped out to move it. Would have been a bigger delay, and possibly compromised the column's structural integrity. I...
