Sorry for the jumbled post and double pics.

    Low flow after overheat/deadhead

You are correct JW. Thanks for the help. The pump can be ruled out. The swap changed nothing. Now thinking of some king of restriction to flow on the return side of the filter. The infloor cleaner distribution head is now suspected of dodgy behavior. If debris somehow made it's way in there...

    Low flow after overheat/deadhead

If the pump is suspect, I will swap it with my other identical pump and see if the high pressure moves with it. Will post pics later. Kind of embarrassed to show the work of an amateur plumber.

    Low flow after overheat/deadhead

All seals checked for leaks and relubed. Impeller inspection was normal. Prime rpm and full rpm change as program dictates. Prime rpm is 2500 @15psi. Normal operating rpm 3450 @ 28psi. Waste and rinse = 15psi. Filter, recirc, and backwash @30psi. I did not disassemble the multiport valve for...

    Low flow after overheat/deadhead

Changed filter sand yesterday with no change in psi.

    Low flow after overheat/deadhead

All seals check ok. The pump basket has finally primed full with no air bubble. My pressure guage was bad so I replaced it and found that backwash, recirc, and filter were operating at 28psi. Waste and rinse were 15psi. This pump recirculates water back to the main pool through 10 pop up...

    Low flow after overheat/deadhead

All seals seemed fine but will double check.

    Low flow after overheat/deadhead

Accidentally deadheaded one of my pumps. Valves were closed at the feed and the filter input. The water in the pump output pipe got hot enough to swell and break glue seals. I replaced the damaged pipe and hoped for the best. The pump started and ran ok, but the flow is nowhere near what it was...

    Muriatic Acid

Two things that make ph a booger to control is a gunite pool and aeration. My spill over wall is stacked stone so it acts like a cooling tower. High evaporation. TA just tested at 71ppm and 7.7 ph.

    Muriatic Acid

I have a large infinity edge pool(36000 gal) that requires 16-24 ounces of MA a day to maintain proper ph. I have a pump with a 15 gal tank that is programmed to inject MA throughout the day. This system works quite well with close monitoring. The MA I use is clear enough that you can't see it...

Cover options for partial Deck surround

I will look into this. I like the idea of no water to pump off. Thanks for the info.

Cover options for partial Deck surround

2X8 joists and a tight fit of the decking make this an impossible task.

Vacs for Above ground pool what do you have

Lil Shark. Shortened the hose to avoid the stairs. Working great for this season. We shall see next year. Very little moving parts is what sold me.Less parts to wear out.

Cover options for partial Deck surround

Tried a search but no results. I replaced my old deck ,that butted up to the end of the pool, with a new deck that surrounds 80% of an above ground 18x 33 oval pool. With the old deck , I just stuffed the cover between the deck and the pool and ran the cable to secure the cover. This is not an...

    Sand in sight glass?

When back washing or rinsing, I see sand in the sight glass of my brand new hayward unit ( for an above ground pool.) I have to wonder why, and am I pumping sand out of the filter with every backwash? I followed the instructions for filling the filter tank. I thought a small amount at first...

Electrical Question - Any electricians on the board?

Code is constantly being upgraded for pools, especially when it comes to grounding. An existing installation should be ok as long as no violations were present at the date it was installed. When you get into renovations it can open up a whole new can of worms in respect to what has to be...

Electrical Question - Any electricians on the board?

I am an electrician. First thing is check with your local building inspector and tell him/her what your plans are. Then do what gives you the most peace of mind while staying within code and local requirements. If money were no object, I would do it all in conduit and THWN/ THHN stranded wire...

    Setting Up Returns

One return. The skimmer is dead center of one end of the oval with the return mid-oval. Which means its stream is angled across the front of the skimmer. Angling the eyeball downward is the best spot but still creates a vortex that sucks down passing leaves and whatever. Is there a return...

    Setting Up Returns

I have an 18x33 oval AGP.I have one return that I think was placed in the wrong spot. Its about 4 feet from the skimmer and the eyeball pushes debris away from the skimmer. Is there such a thing as a 90 degree fitting to get a better direction for water flow around the pool? How will that...
