    Solar Cover Recommendations

3 weeks ago I had to throw out the seriously disintegrated cover. I have had little luck with InTheSwim email to get my warranty replacement until today. Finally spoke with MKaylen who looked at the approved warranty and placed an order for me. I saved the extra pieces of previous covers which...

    Increased prices on solar covers?

I saw another thread that suggests the polypropylene used to make the covers as well as chlorine have become hard to get due to Covid PPE and sanitizer demands. There is also the likelihood that Chinese imports, fuel costs (shipping), labor shortages are a factor.

    Solar Cover Recommendations

Agreed. Have used 8 and 12mil clear and blue, replaced at 2-3 years as the sun/chemicals break the bubbles. 20x30 ft pool using a reel. I'm in the East Bay across from San Francisco with lots of sun, dry winds and mild winters. Cover is on nightly and stays on through the winter. My latest 8mil...

Questions for Dolphin Robot Cleaner Owners

My 2 yr old S200 gets around most of the pool but seems to favor a few spots to revisit. It makes a valient effort to climb 2 steps and has only gotten stuck twice. Fun to watch. If there is a layer of algae on the floor, you can watch it's tracks until water has been swirled enough to make it...

    Ignoring Pool When it's Closed

Here in Northern California, SF Bay Area, temperatures rarely go below freezing, little or no rain until it finally starts. Mostly light rain for a day or more, then we had a couple of storms dropping lots of rain (ok nothing compared to East or midwest) which did add 2 " to the pool. Stopped...

    Recommended cover reels

After way too much time searching for another cover and reel, I found one store that sells the same old plastic reel we have. None of the ones I reviewed were without lots of complaints about quality and I couldn't afford the Rocky's 3A. This is an older all plastic including bearings type...

Solar covers, what thickness mil is recommended

About to purchase my third cover. Clear or blue, each one lasted about 2 years before bubbles started bursting or floating away. They were on during winter also, but sun is a powerful friend/enemy. Raised temps by about 3-5 degrees. I intend to get another but will get a winter cover to reduce...

Problems with Pool just resurfaced with Stonescapes mini pebble Caribbean blue

This is what my Caribbean Blue looks like. Finished in April. It is darker than I expected and shade and some nearby tall Cypress makes it look a little green. Definitely have the pebbly feel which takes a bit to get used to.

What is so bad about using the skimmer to vacuum?

ME too on the S200. Works very well. I just do a little brushing on tiles around the steps where Stuey can't quite reach.

How Clear is TFP Clear? Let's See (Pics Only Please).

OK you've forced me to show off. That is an unnamed ducky and Stuey, our Dolphin S200, who does walls and bottom. I do the top skimming and occasional brushing. Today it's 93 degrees outside and water is at 88.

    Recommended cover reels

I could not tell whether your cover is 18ft or 36 and you roll it around to the long side. Our old plastic 20ft reel is on its last crumbling bearings but the center aluminum multi piece reel is holding up with minimal sag..

dolphin S200 and pebble finish- algea cleaning

Robot is only in the pool now after Cl and Ph levels are normal. My question is whether maintaining a normal level will robot sufficiently clean algea as it appears or do I need to brush also?

dolphin S200 and pebble finish- algea cleaning

I trusted my dolphin on our newly refinished pebble finish pool. After a mistake of letting chlorine drop to zero, I just recovered from a nasty algae bloom. With high chlorine levels and Ph and cya not measurable during the Slam Study, the S200, was not in the water. Now back to normal levels I...

CH for new pebble finish pool - sudden high CYA and now algae

Reading old threads, I belie6an algae bloom hit me. Cya between 45-60, CH now 200. I used kemtek chlorine and brought it up to 14-15. Pool covered overnight but timer on so only ran 5 hours instead of continuous. After 2 days at 13, I left it open and brushed what I assume was dead algae off...

CH for new pebble finish pool - sudden high CYA and now algae

Just measured incoming (house) water and it is 100. I don't top off the pool very often but wait until it is 1/2 -1" down. More disturbing today is finding CYA at 70 suddenly. Checked it twice. It has been around 45. I also did some brushing, not just the steps, and find algae on all the walls...

CH for new pebble finish pool - sudden high CYA and now algae

My pool builder is recommending 200 for CH but Pool Math indicates 250-300 or more. What should CH range be to not damage the stone or grout and tile? Reread the info about CSI and attempting to follow all details. Maintaining with TFP liquid chlorine (Kem-Tek from Lowes) We are now...

    Temporary trichlor question....

Thanks. I just did a new search and see the HDX chlorine, 10%, at Home Depot, $9 for 2 gallons. SDS showing no description of other ingredients. Lowes is offering what appears to be the same KemTek product in a more colorful box for only $7 I will be returning the Clorox.

    Temporary trichlor question....

That is news to me. They started selling this Cloromax over a year ago. Looking at the label, I see no mention of use in pools. It has worked ok for me all this time but if I can't use it, it will be difficult to find chlorine without the other ingredients. An industrial supply store did not...

    Temporary trichlor question....

FYI, went to Costco today and got a case of their latest version "Performance Bleach" It is now 7.55 % sodium hypochlorite and 92.45% other ingredients. Same old 2015 SDS info. And, BTW, price is now $2 higher. This is in Antioch, CA

    Temporary trichlor question....

I too bought CLOROX POOL&SPA XTRA BLUE 3 INCH LONG LASTING CHLORINATING TABLETS to chlorinate while waiting to get bleach. Costco has sporadic supplies and I have not found any in several weeks. I placed 2 pucks in the skimmer and noted zero chlorine and CH for several days. PH was high. Made...

Stone scapes mini pebble vs. quartz / Is Pebble sheen same as mini pebble?

We just finished our Tropics Blue minipebble pool. Temperature -72 -makes it not yet swimmable but my wife jumped in for a very brief dip. She reported the surface feeling a little bumpy. Our new Dolphin S200 is happy to climb the walls and gets around about 2/3 of the tiles water line. Don't...
