15yo pump finally died, what else should I be replacing/upgrading at this time?

I think a SWG is exactly what you are wanting... I was gone for 5 weeks and my pool was just fine, FC was at 9 when I returned and the pool was crystal clear... :)

    Balancing before SWG startup

I forgot this part.. Alway raise FC using liquid.. SWG are great at keeping FC at a level and they suck at raising FC levels as it takes longer run times...

    Balancing before SWG startup

For your area I would recommend CYA at 70 to 80 and FC at 6 to 7.. I always recommend a higher FC level than recommended levels cause I do not like messing with the lower numbers of 3 to 4 FC as one small thing happening in the pool and bam your below the level and have to SLAM.. SLAMing at...

Vacuum question..may be a dumb one..

Welcome to TFP :) That is normal for the pump and filter to work.. Was your last filter a sand filter and did you have it on backwash when you were running the vacuum? If so the water would have gone out the backwash port and not back into the pool..

Pool installed in 1988, would you replace?

From the looks of the pool I would say a new liner would be easy and should be no problem at all.. Here is the kicker... If you pull the old liner off and the wall is almost all the way rusted through but I just do not see it from the outside and usually that is where you see it first.. With...

Pool installed in 1988, would you replace?

That is the best looking over 30 year old pool I have ever seen :) I have seen 12 year old pools with more rust and holes in them... Is the liner leaking or is it leaking just at the through wall piece you are showing in the pictures?

    Deep clean sand before open?

I would probably do it this year.. You do not have to do it yearly but some do... It will help settle and clean your filter for the season :)

    So this happened

The S200 and the M600 come with a 60 foot cord and the power supply has a 5 foot cord connected to it... If you buy or get the caddy the power supply sits on it so you can have about 62 to 64 feet of cord... :)

Pool installed in 1988, would you replace?

LOL, steel pools last just long enough to be out of warranty and that is how they get away with that, some do not even cover rust in the warranty.. All the Resin pools I have seen have a lifetime warranty, but who know exactly what that covers and I have not looked them up... :)

Pool installed in 1988, would you replace?

Sorry about that.. If UV would kill it they would never be able to sell it because it would fail and break.. Imagine them getting sued to death if that happened and would be the end of all the companies selling them and almost all companies are selling them now... :)

Getting quote for Intex swg repair

I wish I had better news... There is no one that will repair an Intex anything as they are throw away parts.. Almost all Intex SWG last just over 1 to 2 years if your lucky... Some have fixed them on there own. :) Here is one of them > ECO8110 SWG code 91 bypass

    Robot pool cleaners

I did no research on the Polaris line and I can not find any info on the gallons per hour for the pumps but here is an interesting thought.. The difference between Dolphin residential and commercial robots is a little bigger pump going from 3735 gallons an hour for residential to 4233 gallons...

Pool installed in 1988, would you replace?

That is an interesting question... I have no idea what this type of resin is made from... I really doubt the sun will do anything to it considering it will have 100's of tons of water being held back and it will be in the sun all day.. :)

Help me decide the best course for chlorination

It would be about 16 to 20 Oz a day to get 4 FC and your CA would rise about 5 per day 5.5 pounds = 88 oz = 5.5 days at 16 oz a day All chlorine prices are going up... I have been telling everyone to get a salt water generator and be happy.. The only problem with SWG is the cost is all...

    Water temperature measuring options

I have not used the external probe I just know about it... You are all over it and they sell a waterproof outdoor box for it but of course it is sold out.. WH31-SRS enclosure I wonder if a waterproof phone pouch would work just have the cable hanging out :)

Did I make a big mistake?

2.5 gallons of 12.5% LC in 21k pool will raise FC from 0 to 15.. SLAM for CYA at 30 is 12 FC.. With Algae in the water you FC is killing Algae fast and dropping the FC fast.. I bet it is below 12 by now and your liner will be just fine.. :)

15yo pump finally died, what else should I be replacing/upgrading at this time?

Do you have any automation now that runs the pump? If so you want to stay with the same pump as the automation and that seems to be Jandy from the looks of it.. Jandy has to be bought and installed from a company as they do not do DIY anything..

Well, Here We Go Again with the Algae

You are in Florida and there are many having the same problem.. you get lots of rain and your FC and CYA can get diluted fast and the next thing you know your CYA is 50 and FC is at 5.. The Algae gets a foothold in that same spot and then its on... This is what I have been telling other from...
