A look back at my pool rebuild

Yes, a great win for the Fallbrook locals. Here in Bonsall, not so much. I almost weep each time I drive by the old San Luis Rey Downs course. Goodness, someone logged some serious time planning out that piece of land. What a show stopper you'll have when you whip everything into shape. And...

A look back at my pool rebuild

Fantastic remodel job! I love the solution you came up with for the top of the spa. It's so pretty, and your view. Stunning. (I'm thinking that's overlooking the old Fallbrook Golf Course? We're just down the road from you in Bonsall.) I wish I had known about this site when we built our pool 16...

Improving Skimmer and/or Robotic Pool Skimmers?

I use the Solar-Breeze skimmer. Like you anticipate, I found that the VS pump really did not keep up with the debris on the surface at low speeds. It is pricey, but it works very well for me - plus it's solar powered so your pump doesn't need to be running for it to work.

Fire Pit Height - show me your fire pits

Just completed our bbq island and fire pit last week. Fire pit is 16" high and 5' in diameter, LP (line runs from pool equipment to both island and pit), black lava rock (a no no to have wood burning in San Diego), with 4 surface led lights just under lip of the stone top. The height is very...

    pH issues--Muriatic Acid question

I buy 31% from a locally owned pool store (the only pool store I will go to because they never try to sell me anything) 4 gallons at a time. I don't remember exactly what it costs me, but it's certainly not $5/gallon. I take the empties back to them in exchange for new. Call around. A new pool...

    Pool Chick Charge?

Have no clue as to going rates. My husband has been calling me the pool chick for 12 years  Goodness knows what he'd have to pay if something happened to me!

Sport type Pool or Traditional Deep End?????

We have a sport pool - 3.5, 6, 3.5 - 34' long. Can't say that we've missed having a deep end, but the whole family, (kids are adults, no grandkids yet), uses every bit of it. Volleyball and badminton are always fun. We don't have a sun step but we do have a nice long deep ledge to sit on...

New Pool Build because of Big Green Egg - FINAL INSPECTION

Re: New Pool Build in Central Texas because of Big Green Egg After reading this thread in one sitting, I don't know whether to laugh or cry! I served as the general contractor on my 4500 sq ft house (with pool and an acre of landscaping) and didn't have half your calamities. I commiserate...

Pentair IC40 cell -- no longer working...

I finally traced it back to operator error - I had increased the run time percentage using the Easy Touch and for some reason the swg responded by not producing chlorine, although all the LEDs on the control panel were green. I check the salt level on the remotes' readout every three days and...

Worst thing ever in your pool?

Living in a rural area I've found many different critters in the pool - alive and not. This was the strangest looking intruder I've had to fish out.

    Swamp Help Please

Everything I've read here suggests you keep your CYA at about 30 for the shocking process in order to save on the amount of chlorine needed. (At least the labor intensive beginning.) You'll be monitoring consistantly (every hour until chlorine starts to hold). Also adjust pH to around 7.2 before...
