    Jandy CV-460 filter cleaning?

Thank you, the gauge seems to be functioning properly, as it drops almost to zero when I open the drain with the pump on to lower water levels. I'll probably clean it this Summer and do so annually regardless of pressure. I'd rather clean it proactively than get stuck having to clean it in...

    Jandy CV-460 filter cleaning?

My pool is one year old. Last June I cleaned the filter really well after only a month or so because there was a lot of scale due to excessive pH spikes because the folks breaking in the pool did a poor job. The pressure has never changed from 20 PSI and I was told the filter wouldn't require...

Pump service time during off season

This is my first time having a pool during the off-season months. Any recommendations on how long I should run the pump? I ran the pump for nine hours during the season and plan on doing so until the leaves drop. I was going to drop the run time to about six hours during the Winter. Thanks!

    Best source for liquid chlorine?

Hello, as the winter approaches and SWGs stop producing chlorine, I will need to purchase liquid chlorine. With the understanding Chlorine has a short shelf life, where should I shop for chlorine? Lowes is cheaper that Leslie's, but I'm thinking Leslie's chlorine may have a shorter shelf life...

    Aqualink's Freeze Protection

Thank you. I don't have this manual. This will help. I realized yesterday I just need to open the spa's suction line to the pump slightly to get enough water flowing to prevent freezing, but not too much to stop the overflow into the pool. I was able to open the spa suction valve about 10%...

    Aqualink's Freeze Protection

Thank you. I was thinking about buying an insulated tarp for snow protection, placing the insulated part towards the equipment. Is this what you do? Something like this....Https://a.co/d/7J9D2zf.

    Aqualink's Freeze Protection

Thank you for your reply. My aqualink manual doesn't provide much information on the freeze protection feature. I'm thinking I may not have a particular manual. Can you provide a link for the manual that covers freeze protection? I also agree that cycling spa and pool mode every 30 minutes...

    Aqualink's Freeze Protection

So, this will be my first winter with my pool. I'm a little concerned about keeping it open; however, I've been told most of the folks around here (Charlotte) do so. I was told Aqualink's Freeze Protection setting will kick on at the set temperature (38 degrees default), and will run in pool...

    SWG shutoff temperature

Thank you. I'll keep an eye on chlorine production as the average temp continues to drop and transition to liquid chlorine when necessary.

    SWG shutoff temperature

Hello, it is my understanding that SWG (Jandy PLC1400) systems stop producing chlorine at around 53 degrees. Does the chlorine producing percentage need to be dropped to 0% when this happens? Is there any harm leaving the percentage set at current level (29%) through Fall/Winter. Thank you.

    Zodiac MX8 Elite questions

Thank you. Is there any reason why you wouldn't use the quick disconnect versus the flow regulator if it provides more suction? I'm thinking better suction would increase performance and improve ability to climb walls.

    Zodiac MX8 Elite questions

Thanks. I cleaned the filter a few weeks back. It had debris from the initial break-in period, as well as some scale. Is the suction reduction fitting the yellow insert? If so, I removed that before I began to use the cleaner.

    Zodiac MX8 Elite questions

    1) My Pebble Tec pool is just over 3 months old and my Zodiac MX8 Elite is having trouble climbing walls for the past few weeks. It is connected to my vacuum line and I believe there is good suction, as I have the pool drain barely open and nothing else has changed. I cleaned it out, but it...

Taylor K-1766 test kit results way off

10 ml. I ran another test this afternoon, and got a reading of 3600ppm again. I decided to keep the kit as another reference point, but it seems like it's running high by 300-350ppm.

Taylor K-1766 test kit results way off

Thank you for your replies. I appreciate the feedback. Although the expiration dates are at least a year out, I think I may have a bad reagent. 1) The pool is only several months old, and there have been 10-12 fourty pound bags of salt added (18,000 gallon pool), so that equates to somewhere...

Taylor K-1766 test kit results way off

Long story short, I bought an eSeasongear Salt-3050 meter and their 3000ppm calibration fluid, as I was looking for a reliable tester for my new saltwater pool. The meter runs a little higher (100-200 ppm) than my AquaLink system and about 200ppm higher versus local pool store tests. My...

Calcium hardness test starts out purple

So, I am aware of the calcium fading endpoint issue when testing CH using a Taylor K-2006 kit, but my tests start out purplish, not red, and finish blue. Is that an indication of small traces of copper or iron as well? If so, should I be concerned? Thanks, Greg

Question regarding cyanuric acid and calcium hardness levels

Thanks for feedback. Controlling my calcium hardness levels should be manageable because I can lower my levels from added rain and hose water (I have a water softener). Case in point, my CH level was around 220 five days ago. I added enough Calcium Chloride to increase things to about 235...

    Solid form of unstabilized chlorine?

Is there a solid form of unstablized chlorine? Once temperatures drop below 60 degrees, and I need to shut-off my salt cell, I'll need to add chlorine manually. Instead off adding liquid chlorine, I'd like to use a solid form in a float feeder, but I do not want to use a stabilized form of...
