Anyone Have a Winter Pool Dome - Ameridome or Others?

@soc4evr - Great tip on the thermal cover! Thanks. Hi all - sorry I never get here anymore...the Portuguese water dog I got 2 years ago literally eats all my free time...don't get a working dog unless you wanna work ;) Hi ho. Also, accepted a new client 2 years back that eats the rest of my...

Anyone Have a Winter Pool Dome - Ameridome or Others?

Starlog dome update winter 2019 brief The dome survived and self-righted after snowpocalypse week ;) I’ve found the best approach is to just wait...if you refrain from interfering, a collapsing/collapsed dome seems to rectify itself. Don’t be tempted to knock snow off the ends...then it will...

Anyone Have a Winter Pool Dome - Ameridome or Others?

If you’re thinking about replacing it anyway, I would go ahead and experiment with storing it in the pool over the winter, under a cover, folded but free-floating, maybe with some guide ropes wrapped around it to manouver it for removal come spring. If the top part freezes bit isn’t under...

Anyone Have a Winter Pool Dome - Ameridome or Others?

Lol. With the baking soda, it’s still a bit messy and takes a bit of time to completely clear too. But I’d be nervous about storing without it...the dome can go away dry but the box has to stay dry too in summer’s humidity. Those desiccant bags are FULL each year by Sept!

FAQ: Cheaply Keeping a Pool Hot -- 90F,95F,100F -- How we ran till Jan 11th in Canada

Hi there...good to see you pop back in! 2700 is right around where I run the heater and I agree that it seems to work just as well - I now have a variable speed pump too ;) I’ll have to check into foam covers...haven’t seen anything like that in these parts! Is it easy to roll? I just got the...

Anyone Have a Winter Pool Dome - Ameridome or Others?

Good morning, dr. Way. A friend of mine who used to build pools thought storing it in water would be ideal but in our case we never found a container that would suit and seal. We use a little plastic mini-shed with two front doors and a roof that lifts up. My friend’s conviction that water is...

    Sequestrant vs. CYA Bound Chlorine

Hi Cal. Thought I’d check back in quick though I am largely mia these days ;) For future reference, please avoid unless absolutely necessary when dealing with metals and sequestrant. Same will both possibly precipitate Metal, causing more staining, and simultaneously oxidize all that...

New pool next week, whats next?

Hi human, I’m late getting here butjust wanted to add that if you’re getting .2 as opposed to 2 from your spigot you should be fine on the copper front. I wasn’t confident in your pool store test reporting 4.0 on copper from your tap...that’s virtually impossible even with very old copper...

So, plaster for the third time...

Hi socks. I’m way late to the party here but wanted to let you know that another poster, poolguyinCT, had tried the commercial version of this prefilter with reported success: FillFast Professional Pre-Fill For Swimming Pools - CuLator Metal Eliminator and Stain Preventer If you look around the...

.2-.3 is wholly manageable with mm in my experience! Let us know how it turns out ;)

    Sequestrant vs. CYA Bound Chlorine

Let us know how the MM works...I’m optimistic ;) The 1 micron pre filter is to my mind a good idea... I too would have expected your staining to be worse at 4.4 ppm...wondering if test was inaccurate, you had lots of rain to dilute, or if former owner had floccd or otherwise done something to...

    Sequestrant vs. CYA Bound Chlorine

Good morning. Water in my city using a very large tanker for 25,000 gallons costs $1,000. Your folks likely did 3 - 6,000 gal trucks...the smaller trucks. Sequestrant Over 5 month’s with a big startup dose at my much lower levels would run around $300 a season for Metal Magic, more if using...

    Sequestrant vs. CYA Bound Chlorine

^Whole house softeners are indicated for the up to 2 ppm range, accdng to my water guy, but water techs generally recommend iron specific treatment at higher levels, depending on iron type.. Examples: manganese greensand filters for high iron loads. Here’s some general info that’s...

    Sequestrant vs. CYA Bound Chlorine

Good morning. I didn’t have any luck with curator at all. I had some luck with pre-filters...eg big blue Pentec with a reducing filter 25 to 1 micron. But that was on my already-softened water. My dual tank system gets the lionshare of the iron, but not all. But with 4.4 ppm, I honestly think...

    Sequestrant vs. CYA Bound Chlorine

Calin b, I cant type much right now due to hand injury but in your shoes I’d cobsider plumbing pool spigot to softened water. My well has 2 ppm iron and is otherwise less than manageable. For MM, I found it works fine at higher, eg tfp recc FC levels, despite what the label says. I might wear...

Aqua Blue mini pebble looks green?

Good morning. .3 is right on the edge of stain potential for copper. Your ph is high at 8 and could cause copper to come out of solution. I would suggest lowering it to 7.2-7.4 with muriatic acid to see if that clears the tint. I always hear mixed reports of Metal Free and have seen people not...

Aqua Blue mini pebble looks green?

Hi guys. Been a little tied up with a new puppy and an ailing FIL so don’t have much sustained attention ;) Mis, how many ppm of copper did they say? Makes a difference on whether i’d recommend changing out a portion of the water or just doing a mini acid wash and relying on Sequestrant to keep...

sequestrant no longer working on metals in water

Good morning. I was asked to check in on your thread but only have a minute as my TFP time has been greatly reduced lately via new puppy and ailing father-in-law ;) There are a few things that may help going forward. First off, if you used Jacks step stuff initially, please note that it is not...

Can't figure out my metals(?) problem

Steve, I agree with Zea provided youre not on well water or same is lower than what has concentrated in your pool. Lift the stains one last time with AA, drain as much of the water as you safely can, add sequestrant and/or drain again. If your problem is reoccurring to that degree, you need to...

Hi Debrina. I’ve tried to catch up on this thread but my time is super limited so I’m not sure if you’re solid on FC nowand asking for metal advice or still stumped on FC. Youhave used so many different products now that I’m not sure how to advise...can you summarize in a list exactly what...

    Build-up on Salt Cell

Hi Mandy. Given the new info re MPS, maybe just a partial drain would be easier and accomplish the same thing in terms of dilution...Eg swapping 50% of your water will reduce the sulphate and po4 at the same time. Just wanna save you on the phosphate removal hassle if there’s a chance it’s not...

    Build-up on Salt Cell

Hi Mandy...I’m late to the party here and Matt has you covered but I have similar myster scale issues in my heater ;) In my swg, it might collect but doesn’t actually stick. In my case, I’ve tested the scale and indeed it has phosphate in its composition. I would suggest in this case that you...

Green pool due to chemical reaction

Good morning. I’m not convinced that conquest actually removed the copper, but merely sequestered part of it...which was likely released again if you elevated your FC by much. The Ascorbic Acid in stain free will lift the stain, but you need sequestrant to then control the metal freed back into...

    Phosphates

Ethany, , just so you know, my phosphates have been much higher than 2500 because I used to use a phosphonic (HEDP) Metal sequestrant due to my well water — over time, it built up to 10x that much because it breaks down into po4. AND even at that level, it did not stop my swg from producing the...

Can a sand filter appear to be working but actually not?

Hi there. The metal out products you used have different components...not sure this would make any difference but stick to metal magic...way more reliable than natural chemistry. Can you post a pic? It’s not entirely surprising that your polyfill isn’t discoloring considering you’ve added the...
