Should I have any concerns about keeping the pH on the higher side (around 8); I had always understood the target to be closer to 7.4 - 7.6. What I'm hearing, though, is that 8 is ok with my TA around 50. All of these parameters would keep my LSI at/around the right value.

Fill water has a pH of about 8.2 and TA of 50.

I don't know the answer for the fill water, but I can test it. Plaster is about to start its 4th year/pool season. Built in Spring 2021.

It does not stay in that range; it drops. I add about 10 - 15 lbs of baking soda, on average, per month.
