    Citric Acid Consuming FC

Thank you! I will definitely use ascorbic acid next time. Hopefully I won’t need to, but I appreciate the clarification.

    Citric Acid Consuming FC

I did a citric acid treatment + Jack’s Purple to whiten my stairs a few days ago and now I’m experiencing high FC loss. My CC have been 0 all week. My pool is crystal clear. It’s my understanding that the citric acid will be oxidized by chlorine and this along with long St. Louis sunny days is...

    Staining From Reagents

Anyone have trouble with getting stains on your hands that won’t come off after testing your water? The stains are a dark black and seem to last until the skin is sloughed off. I’m not sure if the stain is from the fas-dpd reagent or the phenol reagent for ph. The staining on my hands really...

SWG newbie - will I need 820 lbs of salt?

I bought solar naturals from Home Depot for $4/bag. You can easily fit 20 bags in the trunk and back seat of a mid-size sedan.

Duck prevention and the health hazards of algaecide

I’m not sure about the safety of the algaecide. I’m sure someone here will know much more. My neighbor had an issue with ducks landing in her pool and bought a floating toy alligator that helped deter them. Check out Big Joe Pool Petz.

Bought a home and over my head

Congrats on the new pool! You’re going to love it. There are people on here that will make you an expert in no time. The first step is going to be to locate a huge stash of liquid chlorine. With your CYA level and algae already starting to bloom you’re going to need many gallons to get to a...

Cleaner for concrete pool deck that will not affect my pool chemistry?

I used bleach on my coping and it worked great. I used a spray bottle to coat the area, let it have some time to work, then sprayed it off with a pressure washer. Concrete comes out clean, and the pool gets a little recycled chlorine and some fill water.

Came home to my pump losing water

Thanks for your help all!! I ordered some lube to perform some maintenance but I think I was sucking some air from one of the skimmers. Water level was down slightly and letting it pull from the main drain for a bit seems to have cleared the air bubbles. I’m quite relieved. Thanks! Chad

Came home to my pump losing water

I’ve been out of town for work this week. My wife has been home just checking chlorine levels and emptying skimmer baskets. I got home today and checked on the pool and the pump looked like this: When I turn the pump off, half the water drains back out of the pump. It’s doing this whether I’m...

SWCG previously installed but currently disabled

I doubt that you’d be able to use the circupool controller to control a non-circupool cell. I had asked a question on this site about using a Hayward T-15 cell with a circupool controller and no one had any experience. I wound deciding to just replace both this year. Doing it yourself makes it a...

SWCG previously installed but currently disabled

I had a SWG similar to yours installed on a pool I acquired with a home purchase last fall. It stopped working about a month after I moved in. On mine, even after replacing the flow switch it’d just light up the error light “no flow.” This spring I replaced it all with a Circupool Universal40...

Brownish Orange Staining On White Fiberglass Steps

Appreciate the response. I’ll give it a try and report back. I’m sure you’re right about the liner. Someone would be hard pressed to be able to tell though.

Brownish Orange Staining On White Fiberglass Steps

Man this AA treatment seems like a fair amount of water balancing. I hate that I’d have to bring down the FC. The steps where I rubbed vitamin C all over have stayed white. Any chance that filling a filter sock with ascorbic acid and manually scrubbing the stairs would work? Would it be better...

Brownish Orange Staining On White Fiberglass Steps

I purchased this house with a pool last fall and the steps have always been stained. The pool store gave me some quarter shaped tablet that seemed to run the stain right off but I never got around to following up on what it was and how I could get my hands on a larger amount. Anyone know how to...

My pool was opened today and I am reminded that it was closed down with an unsightly white stain under the waterfall: Does anyone have a good procedure to clean this? Thanks!

Pool Open For the First Time

Hello All, Today marks the first day my pool has been open since I’ve found this wonderful resource. Here are my first set of test results: FC: 9.5 CC: 0 Ph: 7.8 TA: 100 CH: 130 CYA: 50 Salt: 2600 Temp: 54* I’m thinking the first thing I need to do is get the salt up as I have a SWG and I know...

    Dolphin S200

I just recently received my new Dolphin S200. The pool company is coming out this Thursday to open my pool and I'd love to get a jump start on cleaning. Is there any harm in running the Dolphin while the mesh safety cover is still attached? Thanks, Chad

    First Timer

Hello all: I was lucky enough to move into a new home in the greater St. Louis area last Sept and it happened to have a pool! It’s 20k gallon vinyl with SWG. We kept it open through Sept and Oct and utilized the pool store for our testing and chemical guidance. The pool has been close the last...

What’s the point of the weekly scheduler?

I just got my new Warrior SE, my first robot. What I can’t figure out from the instructions is the point of the weekly scheduling feature. If you have to manually place the unit in the pool how does the schedulers provide any additional convenience? How are you all using this feature? Thanks, Chad
