    CaliMar VS Pumps

I have a 3 hp running non stop at 1000 rpm since April or May with no issues. It puts out a high pitched sound when running that i didnt expect but I dont know how that compares to other VS pumps. Overall a great value

    Neat entry for Intex

I picked up some wedding cake stairs yesterday on Offer Up for a really good deal and put this "dock" together today. I think it came out awesome and wanted to share because its a little bit different. I didnt use treated lumber or go crazy with footers because it just needs to outlast the pool...

    Anybody upgrade their Intex SWCG?

By "hot-rodding" do you mean upgrading the system components? I certainly did. I spent 800 on the pool and multiple times that on everything else. I hard plumbed and buried 2 inch lines to the rusty shed you see in the photo. In there i have the pump, SWCG and 400 sq ft cartridge filter. You see...

    Anybody upgrade their Intex SWCG?

I run a 3 HP variable speed CaliMar pump 24/7 at 1,000 rpm (83 watts/hour, 2.5 kW per month). The chlorinator comes with a flow switch that will turn the cell off if you loose flow but that should be used for safety, not on/off control. I think it's pretty standard to use a timer that feeds...

    Anybody upgrade their Intex SWCG?

I'm using this on my 20' x 48" round intex and no complaints since installing in the spring.

    New Semi Above Ground Build

I used one of these to scrape down the last bit. The squared edge digs nicely and the smooth edge trowels flat. Tedious, but it worked for me.

Attaching Hayward skimmer to intex ultra 18 x 52 pool - plumbing question

When i did this i plugged the two intex ports using the black domed plugs that came with the pool. You will get better skimming and cleaner pool if the only thing connected to the pump suction side is the skimmer. Dont use the intex valve that has the dual port because you already have a valve...

Harbor freight anti fatigue interlocking mat

So how did it turn out?

Harbor freight anti fatigue interlocking mat

In place of sand, but you will still need some sand to fill low spots. Essentially, use as little sand as possible to level the ground.

Harbor freight anti fatigue interlocking mat

Hi IPT! I staggered the rows like you see in a subway tile pattern. So far they are holding together great with no tape. I waited to cut out excess mat until after the pool was completely filled but next time I will do that when the water is about a foot deep. At that point you can still lift...

Can I make this swimmable tomorrow?

Wouldn't it be faster to let FC fall to 10 ppm before adding CYA so that you could also check pH and know for sure that its safe for the kiddos to swim?

Almost above ground pool owner. Help put my mind at ease about cooling the water!

Aftere leveling the ground i used decomposed granite to fill the low spots because i had it on hand and final layer i was pretty light on the sand just to get a smooth finish, no more. Roll to compact every step of the way. I have no idea if DG was the correct material to use for that first...

Almost above ground pool owner. Help put my mind at ease about cooling the water!

I used the HF mats and love the way it turned out. I think it's the way to go and you offset some of the cost by not having to use as much sand to protect the liner. Once my pavers were level and ground rough graded I used a landscape rake to get it as flat as possible and scrape off high...

Almost above ground pool owner. Help put my mind at ease about cooling the water!

Man, you're moving pretty quick getting everything lined up for this project! Nice. If you haven't already pulled the trigger on a test kit take a look at the Taylor K2006 & K-1766 combo with Speed Stir. You'll have to pretty quickly get refills for the chlorine test (R-0870, R-0871), CYA test...

The ever evolving life of my AGP

Hey there, Kne. If you do need to run the pump I suggest making sure the filter is completely purged of air. Water is non-compressible so there won't be a lot of stored energy if it's completely full of water and does decide to give way under 20 psi. Compressed gasses are a different story...

Dropping an Intex into a hill....the saga begins

I used the foam pads from harbor freight and absolutely recommend it. 10 dollars per pack gets you 16 sq ft. I didn't tape them together and with one person helping it took less than an hour to put down for a 20 ft round intex. You would think the weight of water wound flatten them out and you...

Went with an unorthodox solar heater arrangement and don't think it's working optimally

Leave the panels like you have them but replumb the supply to both panels at the bottom and the return is from the top of both panels. Make sure those valves in the middle of the panel manifold are shut. That should work better than what you have going right now and won't require a lot of extra...

Harbor freight anti fatigue interlocking mat

They are $10 per pack and cover 16 sq ft. For my 20 ft. round Intex I used 24 packs. Maybe not cheap, but totally worth it.

Is Aqua Clarity supposed to foam

On my 800 gallon spa i usually get about a 1 ft diameter floatie, maybe less, each week i use AC. I suspect you have more purging to do. Any foaming i get from AC is gone within 30 min. Foaming is not from the product its from organics releasing from your pipes

Harbor freight anti fatigue interlocking mat

Just wanted to share what i did to install the Harbor Freight mats and how it turned out so that others can consider it on their own build. Every situation is different but for me this worked out great: I first laid down the cheap tarp that came with the Intex pool and staggered the mats...
