Better solution to get rain water off our pool cover?

Hi everyone. We have a 15x30 Pool with an automatic pool cover for use in-season. We use a different pool cover once we close for the season. The problem I have is with the current solution to get rain water off the automatic pool cover. We have one of those little giant like sump pump...

Add a hot tub after the pool is built?

I think those answers point decidedly to a prebuilt if we decide we really need one. Thanks!

Add a hot tub after the pool is built?

Originally we were managing budget issues and honestly just haven't seen hot tubs be used enough to want to build one. Now that we have the pool almost operational, we're starting to wonder if we should have build it. Question is, how feasible and expensive is it to consider adding a hot tub...

Simple after construction water feature add-on?

Thanks I'll check it out!! I'm not sure if rising pH is a good, bad or just something to know - I'll read about that as well :) For what it's worth, I'd only look to be running this while we're out around the pool....

Simple after construction water feature add-on?

We're finishing out pool build out and when we designed we decided we didn't want to complicate things with a waterfall or deck water jet, but after sitting next to the pool for the long weekend, we're missing the sound of splashing water. Does anyone know of any simple water feature add-on's...

Pebble tech installed, acid wash now filled and wait 10 days?

Hi everyone. Gunite pool just had pebble tech installed yesterday and an acid wash today. Tonight the filled with water and Pool firm said it now needs to sit for 10 days. After which we can turn on the filters and start running it. What’s it doing for 10 days? He said it’s neutralizing the...

    Sun shelf, yea or nay?

We’re building a 15x30 pool and have a 6x6 Sun shelf in the design. Builder says he wouldn’t do it as it eats up pool space. We think it’ll be cool place to sit and relax. For those with and without, love them or leave them?

Waiting for the dig and the gunite. How does weather come into play?

Dig Starts this week. Builder is confident we will get the pool dug and gunite completed before winter kicks in. I'm guessing the tile work and plaster may be pushed into the new year - when it warms up. Any concerns or steps he'll need to take to ensure the pool is ok?

Waiting for the dig and the gunite. How does weather come into play?

We‘re in the DC area and finally supposed to have the ground dug in the next few weeks For our 15x30 pool. No hot tub and only 3.5 to 6 foot deep. We’re told there’s only one guy around here that shoots the gunite. How will weather impact us if the pool is Durand everything ready but it rains...

New Pool Fairfax Va. Alpine Pools - Feedback Requested!

Well, months later and we are finally having the preconstruction meeting tomorrow With breaking ground a week later. I think the variable speed pump is mandated now and we will revisit a few of the items again. i am reconsidering the pool depth. 3 foot 6 going to 6 foot over 30 feet. Just...

New Pool Fairfax Va. Alpine Pools - Feedback Requested!

We met with our landscaping firm yesterday and discussed many of the topics here. 1. He's going to discuss the variable speed pump with the installer but his initial reaction was it adds a little cost and not opposed but not sure it adds much value. He said we have a very simple pool. One (or...

Permits issued in NoVA - Now awaiting production

Good Morning! I'm out in Oakton and just starting the pool building process. We have a design for a concrete pool although we looked hard at doing a fiberglass pool. The potential installation challenges (and my history of bad luck with them) moved us away from it. Although we really liked the...

New Pool Fairfax Va. Alpine Pools - Feedback Requested!

Thanks!! I'm definitely interested in your fence perspective, as well as any ideas on how to best incorporate a solution. We're on a little more than an acre of land and didn't like the idea of having to fence the entire back yard off or even parts of it. When you mention the timers, what are...

New Pool Fairfax Va. Alpine Pools - Feedback Requested!

What's a FB pool? (I'm soooo new to this pool thing). So it seems like you either use the pool pump to power a cleaner or you get a 'robot' that is powered separately to run around and clean? Sounds like most people prefer using the robot vs upgrading the pool pump. Thanks for the...

New Pool Fairfax Va. Alpine Pools - Feedback Requested!

Sorry, it's 3' 6'' to 6'. Ok. So far it seems like i should.... 1. ask about a robot cleaner instead of the 'pressure side' approach? (am i saying that right?) Is there a consensus on best value cleaner? What is the lowest maintenance model? 2. ask about "a large cartridge filter by...

New Pool Fairfax Va. Alpine Pools - Feedback Requested!

Hi Everyone. New to the forums. We have a proposal for a new pool from Alpine Pools. We're going thru a landscape design company and they say they've done a lot of pools with them. Anyone have any experience with this builder here in northern Virginia? Here are parts of the proposal and...

    Solid automatic pool cover?

Just starting our planning. Originally looked at plunge pool but moved up to an approx 15x30 gunite. Does anyone sell a hard automatic pool cover? Like wooden slats or something? I’ve seen smaller versions.
