    Stenner Pump Calculator (Excel)

Just what I was looking for, I just acquired 3 stenners from a used government auction. The wife is picking them up today, I don't even know the models yet but was researching for an install. Hopefully at least one works, but at $15 for all three I don't think I can go far wrong.

Can I store my steps IN my pool over the winter?

I think you'd be okay, you won't get more than a skim of ice where you're at. So long as it's totally underwater it should be fine. Might be difficult to clean around if you need to. I open early and close late so wouldn't want to get into the pool to get the ladder when the water is still cold.

    Unlevel pool

Search here for Intex not level. There are some here that have managed to do it. I'd do at least a partial drain unless you're in a drought area. How far out of level is it? I've seen pics of pretty bad ones that've been up for years. 1" is the recommended Max. Sent using Tapatalk 2

    Pool Wall Damag From Tree

Definitely check your insurance, as a DIYer the wall is repairable, take it down beat it flat paint any exposed metal. If there are any holes, duct tape a piece of metal flashing over it on the inside. The hard part maybe finding the other pieces. You'll need to know the make & model. Check with...

Need HELP!! TFP For life new member!

Welcome With fill water TA that high it's going to take time to bring it down and PH will rise until you get TA down to around 100. And anytime you top off you'll be putting TA back in. If you can top off with rain water that will help. When I drain down for the winter I try to let snow and...

Welcome, You're starting the way we did, though we didn't find this site until after we had the pool. Once we did find this site we've never had another problem we couldn't handle with help from here. And never a problem with the water. Finding how easy it is to care for a pool convinced us to...

New pool owner with newly filled pool

You definitely need some CYA to buffer the chlorine from the sunlight. When FC is below 10 check PH again, your reading is a little high but that could be because FC is high.

    CYA high

Welcome, Unfortunately Kim is right :(. How are you testing? Some CYA tests are really way off so it could be better or worse than you suspect. Strips and Pools stores are usually wrong, our recommended test is only accurate up to about 100 so a 120 could be a lot worse. The test we recommend...

Stinging eyes, already read all the threads on the subject...

I have trouble reading PH above 7.5, somewhere up there my daughters start complaining about stinging eyes so then I'll bring PH back down to around 7.2 and they no longer complain.

    Suggested TA for TFP Converts

With the CYA test you can pour the solution back and forth several times and take an average of your readings. It can be a difficult test, try to be sure to do it on a sunny day with your back to the sun and the tube held at waist height.

The cheapest plain bleach available as long as it has the percent on the label. There used to be a spreadsheet on here somewhere, where you could plug in costs and percents to get a head to head comparison of which was actually cheaper. Sometimes there is a deal on pool store liquid chlorine...

WHY should I buy this TF100 test kit from TFTestkits ?

Dave will usually have a sale on a refill kit in the spring, when it's most in demand, and if you couldn't wait and ordered it early they'll usually refund the difference. Very good people to deal with.

What makes eyes burn? Smells like "chlorine? "

I have trouble reading PH above 7.5, it all looks about the same to me. My girls will complain of burning eyes and I'll lower PH to 7.2, and their eyes no longer burn. I've learned to keep PH slightly orange looking (to me) and they're happy.

Algae but No Chemiclas in Pool

What did you use for testing? Strips or a drop based test? Strips are worthless, PH test using drops is okay, and is part of the recommended kits. CL with drops is okay as well though not as accurate or high enough reading for clearing a green pool. The .5 could be from your tap water if it's...

    Green pool and high CYA

Also SLAM levels are extremely high. If you've been using pucks, STOP, they just add more CYA. Make use of as much rain water as you can, it is CH and CYA free. So if you can divert roof gutters to the pool that all helps.

    Bleach vs 3" Tablets

I haven't used a puck in three years, only bleach, primarily from Aldi's. I get comments all the time about how good the water looks. Thinking about it I don't think our current pool has ever had pucks in it since we set it up.

High TA Peeps: Is it possible to pre-filter makeup water to reduce TA?

I wouldn't worry too much about the high TA, it will cause PH to rise quicker but the TA will come down as you keep PH in check. You can lower it faster if you aerate the water to force PH to rise, or just let it happen slowly on it's own. I have similar well water TA levels, after the first...

We've been as high as 86, but after the rains at the beginning of the month we're back down to 80. Anyone knows Doughboy above ground pools? A skimmer replacement question.

Sounds like a plan, if that doesn't work you could move the skimmer to a new location. You'd have to block the old hole with a piece of sheet metal between the wall and the liner taped in place with duct tape. Then either patch the liner or replace it.

Welcome, SWGs have trouble getting the chlorine to maintenance levels so use plain bleach, then the SWG should be able to hold a clean pool. But you may have to SLAM since you levels were low.
