Hi, Tested my CH level, which I haven't done this year, and it says it's 150 ppm. This looks very low to me, is it possible for it drop that much? I believe it was alright last year. According to Pool Calculator, I need to add 106 lb of Calcium Chloride to bring up CH to recommended 450 level...

Technician came, opened the heater and started it, waited, pushed the on/off button few times, sniffed it, it did smell as something burning so he said "it's old and it's not supposed to do that" and he was not going to fix it but he can replace it. I'll take a look myself tonight.

I have Jandy LXi NG heater that's just stopped working and giving this message "Fault Check Ign Control". CYA at about 40 now, it's a bit hard to tell with that dot test. pH is 7.3. FC dropped to 8.5 by the the end of the day yesterday. It's definitely drops much slower once I jacked up CYA. Are you saying I can go swimming at that high-ish level of FC?

Nothing is left of CYA, only packaging. So borax might have been in the mix with CYA? The packing does not say there is any borax in it.
