WaterGuru issues - am I the only one?

P.S. problem was solved, but since nobody here likes these things I'll not bother explaining the solution. Works like a charm now.

WaterGuru issues - am I the only one?

You deal with it. Make a trip, send a neighbor, call a pool company.

I have that - hard to use when you are not at home though

WaterGuru issues - am I the only one?

I've had my WaterGuru for a few years now. I have two main issues/concerns with it, and I wonder if I am the only one. 1. The WaterGuru app rarely if ever notifies me of issues. I honestly can't remember ever getting a notification from it. There is no way to manage what level of issues get...

I am really liking my WaterGuru!

I've had the WaterGuru for a month or so now, and I really like it. It is easy to setup if you have WiFi that reaches the skimmer area of your pool. I find that I use less chemicals now, because it keeps such a close eye on things for me. I am too lazy to test my water ever day, so this thing...

I think I need a manual spa vacuum cleaner, any recommendations?

I have a small fountain near my front door. Maybe 6 or 7 feet in diameter, and maybe 6 to 8 inches deep. It gets leaves and dirt in it from time to time, and I need a cheap and easy way to clean it. Up until now, I have been pumping the water out periodically and using my Shop Vac to clean up...

Help me understand how timers on pool pump and Polaris pump should operate?

Upon further reflection, I've decided to just replace the failed timer clock. I would like to have the flexibility of a smart switch, but I can't justify the cost or effort of installation. Replacing the timer clock is pretty dang simple, per YouTube. Keep It Simple, Stupid!

Help me understand how timers on pool pump and Polaris pump should operate?

The main reason I'd want the smart timer is to be able to turn the pump and Polaris off without going to the pump area. 1st world problems for sure, but they are a little inconvenient to get to. Maybe this thing...

Help me understand how timers on pool pump and Polaris pump should operate?

Funny guy! I honestly didn't consider that the Polaris timer (on the right) might have failed. They are such simple devices. If it has failed, I think I would like to replace both with something "smart", that I can control via Z-Wave with my SmartThings hub. Any thoughts on that? Here's a...

Help me understand how timers on pool pump and Polaris pump should operate?

OK, very simple questions here... I've got a basic pool pump and filter, and an auxiliary pump to run a Polaris. Both pumps are controlled by separate mechanical Intermec timers. They are wired such that the Polaris pump won't come on unless the main pump is on, which I understand is the way...

    WaterGuru - A Test

Can I bring this thread back up to the top, and get any updates from WaterGuru users? Thumbs up, or thumbs down?

Ummm, where did my CYA go?

Thanks guys... The comment about the test reading low in cold water is interesting... It is cold (for Houston) here today, 30's... it was probably mid 90's last time I tested it... I think I will start my SLAM now, get it all good and let it heat up some around here...

Ummm, where did my CYA go?

I started the TFP method last summer, and it has been great. I pretty much left the pool alone for the past few months, and am now starting the process of waking it up for the upcoming year... When I started TFP, I was fighting high CYA. I dumped a bunch of water out of it and got it down to...

    My cabana and pool

Yes, there was a diving board there. Pool is 8' deep at the max. I actually bought a replacement diving board a while back. Nobody in town would sell me a board because the pool is not wide or deep enough, so I ended up getting it online. My kids aren't daredevils, but my son had a big party...

    My cabana and pool

this comment got me thinking... there is a story behind this pool, I might as well share it... Our house was bought new by my wife's maternal grandfather in the late 1940's, shortly after he returned home from being in the Pacific in WWII. My mother-in-law grew up there, and inherited the...

    Does CYA float?

After living with pools for over 40 years (one at my parents house and I have owned three), I am about to become a BBB convert. It was actually the experience with CYA that pushed me over the edge. I had no idea what "too much" CYA meant until I had a guy at Leslie's explain it to me. The...

    Smoking hot pool water

Mine is. Or I should say, it was! Found this guy on the web. http://www.mistcooling.com/poolcooler.htm I bought two of these, installed easy and water temp dropped from 90 to 82 overnight!! The dude is in Houston. It's about $3 worth of PVC fittings you could make yourself. Hard part...

First post for me - Polaris wiring and timers?

Yes, I am an Aggie! Timers are Intermec, don't have the model handy. Assumption - it is bad to run booster pump when main pump is off. True? If so, getting both timers working will still mean that I have to be sure not to have Polaris running when main pump is off. What am I missing? Thanks!

First post for me - Polaris wiring and timers?

Hi all! New to the forum, and have a few issues to address on an old pool. First, about my Polaris... Mine is a 180, with it's own aux pump. The Polaris pump is on a timer, but it is wired such that it only gets power when the main pump for the pool is on. I run my main pump 18 hours per...
