    Smart valves without controller?

Basically thinking that if we already have power supply, relays, smart switches that connect via wifi, zigbee, etc...it's very possible that there are valves/actuators that can do the same allowing for a DYI semi automated system.

    Smart valves without controller?

Hi there! Are there smart valves that can be controlled independently from a Home automation app and that does not need a controller? Thank you!

    Replacing pump

Thank you very much poolman! That was a big question I've always had about my current system. I checked online and found the PD 270 and PD 300 in Pool Supply Delivery but the 300 is considerably cheaper than the 270 which doesn't make much sense to me. Is this online store reputable? Dies...

    Replacing pump

Hello folks, I am doing some work on the pool and was thinking about replacing the pump as well. We moved into the house 3 years ago and since the beginning I have the feeling that it is not enough. I don't know the type of pump but the motor is a Century USQ 1102, 1HP. My pool has only one...

Need a solution to connect vacuum hose to skimmer

Thank you Herman, I actually have this exact same plate from Amazon but it sinks too deep into the neck of the skimmer, that's why I was still hesitant that was the solution. I may need one about half an inch bigger.

Need a solution to connect vacuum hose to skimmer

Hello all, I'm having an issue where the vacuum hose is getting strangled(and eventually breaking) at the 90 degrees angle right above the connection to the bottom of the skimmer of my pool. I'm assuming there needs to be a solution out there for this. Can someone point me to it? Thank you...

Autopilot Digital - Low chlorine readings

As usual a great deal of help here. Well, I had already poured the phosphate remover so I guess I'll ride this one for a few more days, validate the Autopilot and then SLAM the pool.

Autopilot Digital - Low chlorine readings

Hi, The test kit is in his way home. As for adding liquid chlorine, that is what I've been doing to keep the pool under control, but it always end up dropping. I just came back from having phosphates tested and I seem to have over 2500 of whatever they read. Brought back home a bottle of...

Autopilot Digital - Low chlorine readings

Hello guys, I've bought my AP Digital from Saltpoolguys a few month ago and things were great until a few weeks ago. At first I even had to tune it down since I was getting readings above 6ppm, the pool was looking beautiful. Just a few weeks ago I started seeing signs of green algae building...

Help wiring Autopilot Pool Pilot Digital

I'll answer my own question in case someone else finds it in the future. I called SalPollGuys and they said it was OK to wire it directly, not behind the pool timer. The Pool Pilot Digital has a flow switch that shuts down the cell as soon as there is no flow coming. I've tested it and it works...

Help wiring Autopilot Pool Pilot Digital

Hi guys (trouble posting from my phone, so moved to my PC) I just received my Autopilot from @saltpoolguys and I am installing it myself. My question is about the wiring. As I have it now, I have a digital (smart) relay that operates my single speed pump and uses 220V. The Autopilot comes...

    Help choosing a SW system

Hi guys, in my search I found the the CircuPool RJ45 is another popular choice but it is roughly double the price than the IC40. Is this difference in price justified? Second question, I know about the 2X rule of thumb but have to ask, given that the IChlor 30 has better technology, does the...

    Help choosing a SW system

Hello guys, I'm getting some quotes locally to convert mu chlorine pool into SW. As of now, I've gotten quotes for Jandy TrueClear(up to 30K G) and Pentair IChlore (up to 50K G). I tried going after exact model number but that was as close as I got from the people picking up phones. My pool...

Going away with a troubled pool - tips?

Will do. I am not done with Slam and rain keeps throwing me off. I'll stop it for now and keep my levels at the upper range of the charts until I am back and can fully tackle it again. Considering switching as well to SWG, but that is another conversation. Thank you all very much!

Going away with a troubled pool - tips?

Thank you again, these are all great point to think about. Let me try to answer some of the questions: - About consistency of the process: The first two times I believe I was pretty consistent. Brushed pool and cleaned filter almost daily while maintaining above SLAM levels and testing about 4...

Can't get rid of algae (even after SLAM)

Thank you all very much for your responses. I'll keep looking. My pool doesn't have many hiding spots, it doesn't have ladders and the light fixtures are well sitting so I hope they are not holding any hidden water inside or behind them. I looked at the skimmer and don't see any nasty algae...

Going away with a troubled pool - tips?

Thank yo very much all. Signature is updated. My CYA is at 30 and I am keeping it low during SLAM to help me with chlorine levels. I do have tablets I can dump in but I read TFP do not recommend them, not sure why. It may be a good temp solution though. I can leave the pool at SLAM levels but...

Going away with a troubled pool - tips?

Hi there folks, I just posted a separate thread about how I am struggling with my pool and algae. I wanted to keep this other question separate to avoid hijacking my own thread. I am going away for a week next saturday and I am having algae issues with my pool. Undergoing SLAM now but not...

Can't get rid of algae (even after SLAM)

Hello folks, I've been through SLAM 2 times in the last few months and currently undergoing my 3rd time. The first two times I believe I did it correctly and with good discipline. I only stopped after all conditions were met (clear water, less than 1ppm loss overnight and FC < 0.5) only to...

SLAM - FC not going up

Thank you for your response Marty. I use the Poolmath app to calculate the amount of chlorine to add, not sure what you mean by enter my test data in it. Is there any other data I should provide to help you help me? Also, I do not have any CYA test other than the one from the pool store. I...

SLAM - FC not going up

Hey guys, I'm here again. Had to halt my previous SLAM due to a very heavy rain week that was messing up all my measuring and dosing. Started again last Sunday but results have been a bit confusing, very similar to my first SLAM attempt. I started loosing about 3ppm overnight and by now I am on...

SLAM - FC not going up

Yup...I figured as soon as I realized I had them. I'll get the CYA checked today and keep going. Newbie mistake, I don't think the SLAM guide says anything about it.

SLAM - FC not going up

A bit confused here, this AM I had lost 2ppm from 11pm to 7:30am. This is 2X what I lost last night. I seem to not be making much progress, though I thought was. Cleaned up filter yesterday as well. One thing I just realized that may be a factor, I left the container with the tablets in the...
