From Robot to Suction Side Cleaner

Question: Is there a recommendation for a good suction side cleaner that climbs and scrubs walls? Backstory: We're moving into the third season of our fiberglass pool and loving it. We run the pool year round here in Southern Utah. Season one there was a lot of construction going on around us...

    Polaris VRX iQ+

I think hosing it down an storing in a shed are good practices. Our pool is open year round, so it's either in the pool or on the stand in the sun. Still works great, just looks hammered.

No I do not believe there is any logic as far as mapping the floor and cleaning in a pattern. At least, it's not like my roomba. It seems to go randomly as far as I can tell, but that randomness is pretty thorough. I haven't been disappointed in the results.

    Polaris VRX iQ+

I've had the IQ+ for a year now. It looks like it's 10 years old! The decals and labeling has mostly been eroded off, probably from the salt in the pool. Despite its looks, it is a great performer and I'm quite happy with it. It doesn't get run every day, but the days I do run it, it stays in...

    Pool size ?

I think it all boils down to the available space, your intended use for the pool, decking and surrounding area, etc. We just installed a 14’x30’ fiberglass pool an I’d say it is on the smaller end of the medium size for a pool. I doesn’t feel too small for us, and it fills the available space...

Struggling with accurate calcium hardness test fading endpoint (purple)

Would appreciate any tips or pointers you might have with the CH test. I recently realized I had been recoding my results incorrectly, as I experience a fading endpoint where the sample turns purple before it becomes blue. My concern is that it should never become purple and should always go...

Polaris Alpha iQ+ vs 9650iQ Sport for Robotic Pool Cleaner (with promos)

Curious for those using the ultra-fine filter if your robot is like mine and can’t swim up and do the waterline tile any longer. It can do the lower part of the walls, but with the ultra-fine filter it doesn’t seem to get enough propulsion to swim up. Same fo the lift out feature, I have to...

Polaris Alpha iQ+ vs 9650iQ Sport for Robotic Pool Cleaner (with promos)

I ordered one online from Leslies since I had a credit/points from purchase of the robot. The difference in cleaning is very noticable, the ultra fine is picking up so much fine dirt from my pool that it gets too heavy for robot to swim up to the top to lift it out! We've had terrible wind the...

Backswimmer in my new pool, get out!

Ahh yes indeed. The critters like the water. I pulled a sizable camel spider out of the skimmer the other day. Bloated of course, it was gross! Thanks for the advise on the backswimmer. I’m reading some old threads about them now. Amazing these little guys.

Backswimmer in my new pool, get out!

New pool, been working to balance everything out, so clean and beautiful. I read the forum every day and everyone is having so much fun taking care of their pool, and here this morning I was a bit jealous that I have nothing to do because my pool is so pretty. Then my wife gets in for a swim...

How Clear is TFP Clear? Let's See (Pics Only Please).

Morning after a big wind storm all day yesterday. Robot is in the pool doing it's job sucking the dirt back out of the pool. Amazing how clear the water is despite repeatedly emptying a ton of mud out of the robot's basket.

Relative ideal water level for skimmer

For what it's worth, in my situation I've found I need the water level to be about 2/3 up, otherwise the skimmer gets a nice vortex going and sucks a little air. I think this is because I have a 1.5HP single speed pump with a single skimmer and get some pretty strong suction going. If I had a...

    How do the robots know?

My new Polaris VRX iQ+ box claims "intelligent cleaning optimized for your pool" which I think means it randomly changes the cleaning time to make me think it's doing something "smart", but despite the fact it's a great robot and does a good job, it misses a sliver of dust on the bottom of my...

    Polaris VRX iQ+

Yep good point. I also got all three in the promotion. If you missed the promotion, maybe worth checking out when the next Polaris Days sale is in your area. Sales guy told me it would likely be $150 off. Sale Events | #1 Swimming Pool Cleaner Worldwide | Polaris Automatic Pool Cleaners (not...

    Pool build in NM...need help

I'm not sure how far along you are in your home build, but you might consider having your pool builder give you input asap as some things may be easier/cheaper to take care of now during home construction rather than waiting until after you close and move in. For example, roughing in the...

    Spillover and water circulation

Not sure what automation system you’re using, and I’m sure you’ve already accommodated for this, but take caution not to run in spillover when your auto-cover is closed. In other words, watch your programming that you don’t inadvertently program an event where the timer turns on the spill over...

    Setting Spa Water Level

I have a similar “spill-under” setup with my raised spa. No spillover, but the spa has a drain where it might otherwise have had a skimmer. Get too many people in the spa, the water simply drains down to the pool. When the valves are in pool mode, the spa valve is open just enough to let a...

    Polaris VRX iQ+

I picked up the VRX iQ+ yesterday morning, and have run it several times since. Pretty impressed, I’ll share my initial impressions below. My pool is brand new (just filled it last Thursday) but there is a lot of construction around us and windy days have brought plenty of dust into the pool so...

Need help: basic info before 1st build.

I haven’t seen pool lights that can focus such that you won’t get some bleed over since water disperses light greatly, but if you put one light on each end of the 35’ you can get a nice effect with separate colors on each end and the blend in the middle.

    Flexible PVC?

For what it’s worth, I’m currently installing an 8’x10’ fiberglass spa made by Viking (Latham) with 9 jets that are plumbed identical; looks just like yours. Jets pre-installed by the manufacturer.

    Hello from Southern Utah

Hello from sunny St George Utah (about 90 minutes north of Las Vegas, on the Arizona/Utah border). We're new to the area after spending our lives in beautiful Colorado, but have been vacationing in southern Utah for over 20 years. New house, new area, and new pool. We have limited space so pool...
