Replacing SWG flow sensor - matching wires

My new cell is installed and running. The initial salt reading is spot on as well. I'll see if I can track down a three-wire flow sensor without spending an arm and a leg and try to get the old Cell running again too. Thank you again for your help, Jim!

Replacing SWG flow sensor - matching wires

Pump Communication is established again and pump is up and running. Strange for that to happen, though.

Replacing SWG flow sensor - matching wires

Hi Jim. I think that's a good idea about getting a new 3-wire switch to try to fix this cell but using my spare cell in the meantime. I was also confused about why I was getting chlorine production all day yesterday even though my cell had the red no flow light illuminated. Obviously I have...

Replacing SWG flow sensor - matching wires

Update: This morning my weather and water temperature were the same as yesterday but the SWG is no longer creating chlorine. I shut off the breakers for several minutes and restarted the system. Bubbles temporally appeared again but then disappeared. I did this twice with the same results. So...

Replacing SWG flow sensor - matching wires

I should add that Screenlogic no longer gives me a low salt reading even though it is saying this all to zero. That's probably why the Cell is making chlorine when it wasn't before with the low-salt error showing up.

Replacing SWG flow sensor - matching wires

Thanks for that explanation, Jim. My current water temperature is 62. I'll be interested to know if the flashing salt reading goes away when it gets a little warmer. Interestingly, the ScreenLogic still says my salt is zero. But as long as I'm getting bubbles, I'm OK with that!

Replacing SWG flow sensor - matching wires

Great news!! I'm not sure exactly what's going on, but I re-installed the salt cell just to get my pump running again. The original sensor wire has been cut so my salt cell shows zero flow as would be expected. The salt level is flashing between green and red. Through my drop test I know my...

Replacing SWG flow sensor - matching wires

Darn! Thank you for that information, though, Jim. I had this sensor on hand from a while back. I'm not sure why I bought it but I never used it. I'm not sure if I would be able to tell how many wires the next one has if I were to buy another one. Unless I bought original Pentair. I'd...

Replacing SWG flow sensor - matching wires

Hello, I'm troubleshooting a persistent 0 salt reading on my Pentair IC-60 by attempting to replace the flow sensor following instructions on this site. However, my non-Pentair sensor has 4 wires instead of the 3 that are original to the unit. Could someone please advise how I am to match...

Pentair IC-60 and zero salt reading

Hi Jim, Thanks again for your insight. The red light is currently illuminated on the cell itself, plus my ScreenLogic app says low salt. I know enough salt is in the pool, so it might be a cold water error. Since I saw bubbles coming from my return yesterday upon reengaging the cell I was...

Pentair IC-60 and zero salt reading

Thanks Jim! I'm trying to save myself some worry when going on a 10 day vacation I'm leaving my kids home in charge of the pool. We do have jugs of bleach which will be my back up plan regardless. It just seems strange that I can't get a higher reading than zero. I have been turning off power...

Pentair IC-60 and zero salt reading

My salt cell has been turned off for the winter but my temperature is at 57 and I am no longer receiving a cold water cut off warning. My ScreenLogic phone app was giving me a low salt alert, so I tested the salt using my Taylor test and it came in at 2600. I add the two 40 pound bags of salt...

    IC-60 stopped working, no lights

Good news! With some helpful talking points from JamesW I was in conversation through email with Pentair support, and just received a favorable response: “After further review on your case with my manager, we considered sending a new cell as a one time goodwill gesture from Pentair in order to...

    IC-60 stopped working, no lights

I am attempting to follow up firmly with Pentair to honor the warranty, but in the meantime, I am going to troubleshoot the water leaking into the cell. I have just made sure it is bone dry inside and we’ll see if any water reappears without there being rain to get in from the outside.

    IC-60 stopped working, no lights

I can try, but the only contact info is email. I’m going to pursue it with Pentair first and see what happens.

    IC-60 stopped working, no lights

That’s the thing… I don’t see where they claimed the warranty in the product listing. I just assumed as a Pentair product it would have it, and based on advice here, thought it would have a full two years as a replacement cell. This was before I knew the fine print difference between trade grade...

    IC-60 stopped working, no lights

I feel the same way about this just being semantics. I didn’t know anything about Trade grade versus EC before this. I went back to the seller’s website and looked at the product listing. I don’t see where they represented it as having a two-year warranty. did I miss something that you were...

Their reply: “Typically Intellichlor carries 2 Years warranty. However, if the Intellichlor unit is a trade grade product BUT purchased online it will then have a 60-days Parts limited warranty ONLY just like what your unit have. Based on the serial number registered, your Intellichlor is a...

    IC-60 stopped working, no lights

I called Pentair and got help recalibrating my salt reading so that is all good. I was hopeful about the warranty for the replacement cell, but this is ultimately the email I got after sending photos: “Jamie, Good afternoon. I apologise for the delayed response but thank you for sending the...

For what it’s worth, the company came up in a drop down menu of authorized sellers when I was filling out my product registration. But that’s still not going to help me in terms of installation.

    IC-60 stopped working, no lights

Who knows… I saved my packaging and everything looks legitimate. I think what will get me is the fact that I installed it myself. It’s pretty much plug-and-play since it’s a replacement, so I think that’s ridiculous. But I just registered my cell online and I’m waiting for the warranty card...
