    TFP for the WIN!!!

I actually turned on the floating light up bluetooth speaker just so I could stand on the porch and admire last night

    TFP for the WIN!!!

I was literally standing by the pool last night going "WTH do I do NOW???" :ROFLMAO:

    Stabilizer issue

I don't have any super sage advice other than to second Maddie's advice to get your own test kit. I'm a recent 100% convert to TFP (been dabbling for several seasons) and I think I can safely say I'll never set foot in the pool store again, unless it's to shop for a fancy float. Trust the...

    Don't know what to do

I feel your pain Lskul. We're expecting it to be hot hot hot for several days here in the northeast, and I'm just not sure I have the mental fortitude to just float in my now beautifully balanced pool. The struggle is real 😫

    TFP for the WIN!!!

I'll try to attach a screenshot from my app as proof but my teenagers are still asleep so my tech ability is limited without my Tech Team :ROFLMAO:

    TFP for the WIN!!!

So after a few years of mostly using TFP method (yes, I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't *trust* my test results on several occasions and went to the dreaded pool store) and finding myself fighting with my pool all season, I decided after closing last year that I was going to 100% commit...

Ph dropped after clearing pool with SLAM

Pool math said to add 2.6 pounds borax so I added about half that amount and will check again in the morning 👍

Ph dropped after clearing pool with SLAM

Didn't add enough chlorine to the pool before we left for the holiday weekend, and with the hot temps in the northeast, came home to a pool that was starting to go green. Started SLAM (Walmart bleach) Sunday evening with ph at 7.2 Water back to blue but cloudy on Tuesday, passed OCLT...

    Sand recommendations

I just read an old post from another thread and looks like quikcrete is a major NO NO!

    Sand recommendations

Thanks! The HTH description says it us #20 crystalline silica quartz. That's the right stuff, yes?

    Sand recommendations

My sand filter is finally getting delivered today so I need to buy the sand. My local choices are HTH brand from Ace Hardware or Quikcrete brand from Home Depot. Any suggestions which one I should get???

    Upgrading to sand filter...

Thanks knauss! I've seen other people talk about adding stuff to their sand (DE)... should I do that or stick to straight filter sand?

    Upgrading to sand filter...

... for a 15' Intex after years of dealing with (and loathing) a cartridge filter. Ordered a 2100 GPH intex sand filter and not sure about what / how much filter media to order. Pump specs say 26# sand and 18# glass media. Do I need to get both, or just one or the other? I've also seen...

    Reading Taylor Chlorine pH test

Thanks! I tried the white background and it was much easier to read ? pH is definitely on the high side, matches the 8.2 box on the tester (I think it ticked up yesterday when I adjusted alkalinity with baking soda) but I have the stabilizer sock hanging now, so I'm hoping that it'll tick back...

    Reading Taylor Chlorine pH test

Now that I've taken the plunge and gone full TFP, I've acquired my first Taylor test kit. Went with the most basic (k-1004) since our pool is fully drained in fall and refilled in spring. Any helpful hints on accurately reading the FC TC pH on the little test cube? I thought maybe putting...

First time starting seasonal pool on my own

After several years of having a seasonal pool (full fall drain and spring new fill) I've decided to try opening without water test from the pool store. I know how most feel about the dreaded pool store method, but I've always found our local one to be very good at keeping our pool looking and...

    Bubbles!

It just occurred to me that if he had remembered to put the trash out last night, I likely would never have found the bottle lol That's what ya call "poetic justice"...

    Bubbles!

Omg I'm about going to pee my pants. Caught red handed and he finally admits that he picked up "some of the good stuff" to make sure the pool didn't turn green while we were out of town during the heat wave! He stopped home (After i had already left with kids etc) before heading north last week...

    Bubbles!

Ah HAAA!!! It's trash day and look what I just found hiding in the bin... looks like "He Who Shall Not Be Named" tried to hide the evidence lol. I think maybe the mystery is solved???

    Bubbles!

I don't *think* the cheap stuff I buy has any additives as I don't see any fancy "features" listed on the label. It's the same stuff I've been using for weeks without issues. I guess at this point I'll just keep an eye on all my levels, double check all the connections, and continue to...

    Bubbles!

Yes. Only plain walmart bleach. I'm going to try taking the new return that came with the new pump off (AKA has the aerator) and switching it out with the old one that doesn't have the aerator to see if that solves the problem. Not sure what genius engineered that thing, but it has a tendency...

    Bubbles!

Appears to be nothing blocking up the lines or pump, but I'm still bubbly this morning. Incidentally... noticed yesterday evening that when my son and hubby (sweaty... wearing sunblock... general teenager yuck) were in the pool for about an hour, the bubbles disappeared and didn't reappear...
