Finished SLAM, now obsessed with pool! LOL

DorsalSpine, Thanks for the tip about subtracting the last drop once the color stops changing! I was just following the instructions in the TF-100 kit, and I always wondered how red or blue, etc, the test is supposed to get. Now I know better! :) RonsPlc, Isn't it amazing how little time...

Finished SLAM, now obsessed with pool! LOL

Did this happen to anyone else?!? We completed our SLAM and passed OCLT, and now I'm obsessed with keeping the water crystal clear! I guess it's a good thing! I also discovered during the SLAM that I have not been doing some of the tests correctly. Whoops! On some of the color changing...

    Question about passing the OCLT

Thanks, Texas Splash! That makes sense! I'm not entirely sure we had algae, but we had something going on in the water. Regardless, the pool/water look amazing now, so the SLAM worked. I just brushed again and didn't see any clouds. We'll try the OCLT tonight and see what happens...

    Question about passing the OCLT

Hi, I have a question about one of the criteria for passing the OCLT. It says that the water must be clear. Our water looks very clear and our walls/floor look spotless, but I will still get a tiny dust cloud that poofs away when I brush the bottom. Should I continue to SLAM? Thanks!

Test Results and a question about TA

Thank you! I actually need to go check the chlorinator and see if it has any pucks in it. The pool builder put some in when it was filled in late November and I'm not sure if they've added any since then. They are wrapping up loose ends on our project. We should be having pool school soon...

Test Results and a question about TA

Hi Everyone! Here are my results from today: FC 2.5 CC 0 pH 7.8 TA 60 CH 250 CYA 30 CSI -0.23 Water temp 61 degrees F I put my test results into the pool math app and it recommended: -raise FC to 4 by adding 44 oz of 8.25 bleach (I added the 44 oz.) -lower pH to 7.4 by...

    Measuring out chemicals

Thanks everyone! Sounds like it's easier and safer if I pour directly from the jugs for the liquid chemicals. I'll do that! Thanks for the help!

    Measuring out chemicals

I was just wondering how everyone measures out their chemicals. I bought a little bucket that has ounces marked on the side, and that's how I measured the chemicals that I added today, but I was wondering what everyone else does. If we're going to keep doing that, I will buy several more, so...

First TF-100 test results. Please help!

A couple more questions... The Pool Math app is recommending 22lbs of Calcium Chloride to raise the CH to 270 (CH was 150 or 175 today). Does that sound right? It's also recommending 6 lbs, 11 oz of Dry Stabilizer. Is that right too? Thanks!

First TF-100 test results. Please help!

Thanks, Texas Splash! I followed your advice about how to add the acid and chlorine! I was nervous adding it though! Scared I was going to mess it up somehow! LOL I will get the Bravo bleach the next time I'm at HEB. Thanks for the tip!

First TF-100 test results. Please help!

Thank you, Allen! I have read those resources, but I will keep re-reading them until this becomes easier! ;-) 52 oz of acid sounded like a lot to me, but that's what the app and website recommended. This is my first time using both though, so I might be doing something wrong! I will add the...

First TF-100 test results. Please help!

Hi! We received our TF-100 test kit and I just completed the first tests. We have a new pool with Pebblesheen plaster. Here are my results: pH 8.2 FC 1.0 CC 0.5 TA 130 CH 150 (was blue and then 15-20 seconds later turned back to red, so I added one more drop. If I count that last drop...

    What's your current pool temp?

New pool that was just filled a couple days ago - water temp was 60 degrees today. Can't turn on heater for quite awhile with new plaster, so we won't be swimming anytime soon!

    Brand new here! Chlorinator question

Thank you! I can't wait for the TF-100 kit to get here. They gave us a little test kit that tests Chlorine, pH, Acid Demand and Alkalinity. I will perform all the TF-100 tests as soon as I can and post in this thread. Thanks for your help!

    Brand new here! Chlorinator question

Hi! We just filled our pool and the pool builder came today to start it up. It just occurred to me as I was making my signature that we have an inline chlorinator, but we won't be using it, if we're following TFP methods, right? I read on another thread that someone just uses it when they go...

Any input on AIM (Artistry In Mosaics) or Aquabella glass tile?

Our tile is the Aquabella Fjord tile. We went with the Misty color (FJ-1299) in the 1"x2" tile and we love it! I think it's a really nice quality tile. The tiles are thick glass and they came with a plastic sheet on the front of the tile. They did not have a mesh back. I think they were...

To planter, or not to planter...that is the question

Hi All! This is my first post on TFP, although I have been reading threads for the past few weeks. I have really enjoyed looking at everyone's projects! We have already selected our pool builder and we love our design! We are just not sure if we should put in these planters, or if we...
