    Weak skimmer action

Yep! That’s what it was. I drained about 4” and it’s skimming like a champ. Then I disassembled the float mechanism and recalibrated it so it’s not always running. Cheers! Mark

    Weak skimmer action

Ok, well not to hijack or pump my own thread, but I have some more info! I just went out to take a closer look at my skimmer. It looks like the water level is too high. The water is actually 1/4 inch above the top/ overhang where the weir door would close. So I’ve tried adjusting my pool fill...

    Weak skimmer action

Hi all- happy summer! It seems that my skimmer is not really in the market for skimming lately! Light debris seems to stay on the top of my pool all the time and I don’t recall it being like that in the past. I cleaned my cartridge filter when I opened. My return me seem to be pumping water...

Letro Legend stays in deep end-only left turns.

Hi all, hope you are are well. I have noticed my letro legend is spending all of its time in the deep end of the pool. It is also only turning left. I have replaced the drive shaft as I noticed the ends were worn and tapered. I also adjusted the front wheel placement, as one wheel was barely...

    Pool 101

Quick question. We were recently evacuated due to the Carr fire in Redding. Family is all safe and our house still stands. We are hoping to repopulate in the next few days. I haven’t put chlorine or anything in the pool in several days and will likely have to slam. Does anyone one have any...

Friend is dealing with geeen pool/ pollen

Update! pool service showed up today and was miffed! He was going to let the ‘pollen’ fall to the bottom and vacuum it out! Ooops! We’ll see how long her pool stays clear, if at all, after the vacuum!

Big test today! Last day of school and a 4th grade swim party! Raised my CYA to 50 and I’ve been experiencing about 2.5 ppm FC Loss per day. It’s been warm 90-100, so I’m ok with that. Also added enough MA to get my ph down to 7.4. I noticed my water looked more ‘inky’ when I lowered my ph...

Pool and Spa Thermometer with wireless Temperature Sensor

does this unit come with everything you need, or do you also need transmitters, receivers. I want one that sends a signal to my iPhone via an app. Anything like that in the market?

Average chlorine use in hot temps

How is CYA lost? I was under the impression that the only way to lower CYA was to drain, or be turned to ammonia?

    The wife got me thinking...

So I am a TFP convert and my pool has never looked better (thank you tfp!, long live tfp!), but my wife raised a question that has me thinking... i drained my pool and refilled as my cya was skyrocket high. To fill my pool up was only about $50 in water. So far, I am spending about $50 a month...

What type of chlorine do you use?

I Just started following the TFP method, so I don’t have the experience others do, but I use liquid chlorine from my local pool store. It is 12.5%, trucked in weekly so it’s fresh, and it comes in 4 1 gallon jugs in a handy carrier. I like it because I am not just tossing/ recycling gallon jugs...

Been testing all week and refining and dialing in my procedures. We had a few days of clouds, so my CYA readings may have been off. I also wasn’t testing 1’ deep water. Also tried the ‘pour cya up to each increment’ and taking a quick glance. After 2 full sun days here is where I stand: PH...

Today’s results: FC: 5 pH: 7.2 CC: 0 CH: 75 TA: 70 CYA: 40 looks like my CYA dropped a bit. Is that just it finally settling in? Should I ramp it back up to 50? will be tossing in the calcium chloride this weekend to hit target, and just added 96 more oz. liquid chlorine to get to 8. I think...

While my CYA is dissolving, I have another question! my fountain feature (dolphins spouting water), is really annoying sounding. I have looked, but I don’t think I can turn it off. When my filter is running, the fountains are founting! If if I reduce the RPMs of the VS filter, I can make it...

Redding will get very very hot. We are already looking at low 90’s this week and in the peak of summer heat, we will go several weeks at a time in the 110+ range! Pool does not get full sun all day, more like 5 hours of direct sunlight.
