    Inground spa - missing jets?

Thanks for your reply. We have never been able to use the spa so we don't know if they are fine the way they are or if they needed some type of insert or cover. We just want to be well informed and make sure we're not missing parts.

    Inground spa - missing jets?

Hi all- We're finally ready to work on the inground spa and replace some missing items from the pool. They've just been replastered and we're ready to replace whatever was missing. It looks like we're missing parts for the jets. We have several PVC pipes with nothing covering them. Looking...

    Inground Spa Cover 108"

Hey everyone! We are looking at either repairing or replacing the cover for our inground spa. The inner dimensions(tile to tile) are 96" the outer dimension ( outside the coping) is 120". The current spa cover measures 108" across and is 3 pieces evenly 4" thick (i.e. NOT tapered). There is...

Year 2 - Need advice on pumps, heaters, etc.

Merged threads - TFP Mod - Marty Hi all - We're in MD just between DC and Baltimore. We moved into our foreclosure last April and proceeded to clean up the swamp that was the “pool.” Thanks to all of you we were able to swim all summer and into the fall. Since we're still in off-season we...

How do I clean bones out of my main drain?

You're talking about for the paramount in-floor jets, right? I do have one (just got it) but it seems like every one is stuck, and I can't get it to do the 1/4 clockwise turn needed. That's why I was underwater, trying to muscle it a bit more than the pole allowed. These have many years of junk...

How do I clean bones out of my main drain?

Yes, that's a great idea. I need exactly that. I was messing around under water this morning trying to unscrew some of my paramount infloor cleaners, and even when I fully exhaled, I kept floating away! :-) (Maybe I should try to lose 15lbs of extra buoyancy too!)

How do I clean bones out of my main drain?

Mission (mostly) accomplished! I ended up swimming down and using a set of long pliers (12" or so). I was able to grab one piece each time, and between getting the "big pieces" out and picking up the tiles, it took about 15 dives. There are definitely some smaller "parts" still left in there...

How do I clean bones out of my main drain?

Yes. One goes to the next canister, one is the overflow/equalizer from the pool. We put the vacuum into that first one. - - - Updated - - - Correct it's a Paramount in floor system.

How do I clean bones out of my main drain?

Unfortunately we can't isolate the main drain. If the pump is running, it's drawing water. We do have a canister that the vacuum empties into before it goes to the pump, so hopefully nothing will make it all the way to the pump.

How do I clean bones out of my main drain?

First, sorry for the potentially troubling thought of me having to pick animal bones out of my drain. We have finally gotten our pool clean enough that we can see all the way to the deep end. It sat for at least 2 to 3 years without being touched, perhaps longer if the prior owners didn't use...

Day 21 of SLAM & is this possibly algae??

Hi all - We are coming up to day 21 of our SLAM. We've been pretty good at keeping the FC in the 10-12 ppm range. A few times it went down to 6 or 8, but that was only 2 or 3 times when we were away for > 24 hrs. Our CYA is at 20, and the CC usually tests at 1.0. What the pool looked like...

Changing my gross swamp into a real pool

we are in the same situation (black swamp with no idea how many formerly-living creatures are at the bottom) and managed to clog the main pool drain by accidentally raking junk into it. I wish we had probed for the main drain, and then just made sure to blindly rake away from it, rather than...

Advice to remove this winterizing plug which is now stuck in plumbing?

not yet! we haven't had much time to try things yet. Probably won't be until this weekend when we have some more time to focus on it. (fortunately this pump runs our waterfall and some pool jets, so its operation isn't critical to things.)

What Heat pump is this? and how to troubleshoot issues

Hi everyone, We've tried firing up this heat pump to no avail. Looks like it's getting power but not turning on. We're trying to diagnose the issue but it's difficult when we don't know what it is or where to find a manual. Looking at the stickers and searching the internet tells us it's...

Advice to remove this winterizing plug which is now stuck in plumbing?

We found this little guy on the suction side of one of our pumps (about 3" short of the pump filter basket). We're new pool owners, so it was probably our fault for starting up the pump without ensuring 100% that every plug was removed. There is about 6" of straight PVC right behind it, so I...

Ready to SLAM -- must we fully increase CYA first?

Yeah, that's what we thought too. Especially since we understand that there is a delay between addition of the stabilizer and the test result, we thought we'd go low and add up as needed. thanks. we are trying to be vigilant, but we are staying overnight at our "old house" an hour away until...

Ready to SLAM -- must we fully increase CYA first?

well, we got sidetracked by a little pump problem, but seem to have them behind us now. (However we weren't able to run the pump overnight.) We ran the 30 minute test mentioned above, and didn't seem to have anything suggestive of ammonia. We were able to get the FC to 12 in 30 min, and the CC...

Low water pressure pool pump help diagnosing please

Looks like the thread below solved our issue. Thanks for your help! We used a shop vac in blow mode and wrapped a towel to create a seal and blew air into the line to the skimmer. It didn't look like anything happened. Then we ran the pump and boom! Black junk and leaves cleared out in the...

Low water pressure pool pump help diagnosing please

We've started the SLAM and everything was going well. Last night we powered down to clean the cartridges. When we fired up the system again we found that we had lost suction from the pool pipes. We have a spa as well but when we switch the valves to draw from the spa it works perfectly. Back to...

Ready to SLAM -- must we fully increase CYA first?

Hi all - We have finally gotten a chance to pull the cover back on our foreclosure pool, and are ready to move forward with cleaning it up. It has sat for 2+ years unused (but seemingly mostly covered.) We have run the pumps and filters and see that they work, and we have replacement cartridge...
