Aqualink RS Controller and Hayward Ecostar Pump

Hi, I have a Hayward Ecostar pump and was recently obtained a used Aqualink RS controller for cheap. I'm not familiar with the various automation systems on the market but the Aqualink RS seems straightforward. I've been googling but haven't been able to find a definitive answer if the...

CYA still very low after startup

I've read CYA takes a long time to show up in test results but maybe that is if Stabilizer was added in bulk at the skimmer. - - - Updated - - - Ok, I'll brush the walls and bottom and try and stir things up. Thanks for the help!

CYA still very low after startup

How critical are the level marks (top and bottom of the sticker) on the CYA mixing bottle in the TF-100 kit? I find when adding pool water and R-0013 to the mixing bottle the fluid "curves" quite a bit. I remember back from high school chemistry days the level of fluid in a bottle or container...

CYA still very low after startup

I don't have the container but I'm fairly sure it said 100% cyanuric acid.

CYA still very low after startup

Yes. Maybe my test kit is off? I have the TF-100. I can't remember when I last purchased an R-0013 refill bottle. Maybe 6 or 8 months ago. Does R-0013 go bad?

CYA still very low after startup

Hi, The target for Cyanuric Acid is 40. And, the recommended add is 4 lbs and 6 oz. Should I add as recommended? Thanks, Strop

CYA still very low after startup

Hi, Filled the pool a week ago and put 5 lbs of Stabilizer into 2 socks starting on 5/26 (as recommended by the Forum). 99% of the stabilizer powder has dissolved but CYA is still very low. Test results as of last night. The CYA number is an estimate since the last number on the measuring...

Startup after pool drain and acid wash

Thanks for the quick reply. Should I dump the stabilizer into the skimmer with the skimmer and pump baskets removed?

Startup after pool drain and acid wash

Hi, Just drained our pool and had the tile blasted and the plaster acid washed. Now its full again. Filter was cleaned at the same time and DE has been added. The Pump is back to running normal schedule of 8 hours per day. I haven't added any chemicals yet so wanted to get advice from the...

    Nautilus Pac-Fab NS-72 or NSP-72 DE Filter - Parts

Unfortunately the local pool supply store (think national chain) does not have any of the o-rings in stock. I came up against this issue a few years ago when I did a filter clean and o-ring replacement. I think the local pool supply store only had 1 in stock so I had to reuse all the other...

    Nautilus Pac-Fab NS-72 or NSP-72 DE Filter - Parts

Can anyone tell me the O-ring sizes (not the manufacturer part numbers) for a Nautilus (Pac-Fab) NS-72 or NSP-72 DE Filter and Back-Wash Valve? I have either the NS-72 or NSP-72. The nameplate decal is faded so much I cannot tell if its an NS-72 or NSP-72. I'm curious what the difference is...

Trying to get a handle on pool chemistry

Hi, My test results for today... Cl = 5+ pH = 8.0 FC = 11.5 CC = 0.5 CH = 750 TA = 120 CYA = 100 The PoolMath app suggested adding 40 oz of acid which I just did. So, it appears to be going in the right direction. I think my testing technique is improving too. Not sure how much that would...

Trying to get a handle on pool chemistry

Thanks for the quick replies... I'll start looking at when/how I can drain and refill. We currently don't have water restrictions (I think) in effect in this area but I need to check and how this might impact requesting a refill from the Water District. PoolMath is suggesting I add 267 oz of...

Ok, retested a short time ago and here are the results. Cl = 5+ pH = 7.5 FC = 5.5 CC = 0 CH = 850 TA = 120 CYA = 140 I used the method for measuring high CYA as described here - See Step 8 - Pool School - CYA.

Thank you MKnauss for the quick reply! I'll do the tests and then repost. Yeah, I've got a fair amount of scaling at the waterline. Cheers! Forgot to add to my signature. Inground pool with plaster/marcite.

Trying to get a handle on pool chemistry

Good morning, This is my first post asking questions. So I've done some reading on this forum regarding balancing chemicals, I've purchased a TF100 kit and a speedstir and now I'm about go it alone, that is cut the cord from the local pool supply store. I have many questions about pool care...

G'day mates! Yep, take a guess where I'm from originally. My username and photo might help. Google can tell you more about Strop and the other bloke from that show. So, I've finally had enough of not knowing what the heck I'm doing with my pool. I've also had enough of giving my hard earned...
