    Very trouble free pool

There isn't much point in trying to talk them lower. They don't have the best reputation. Any subcontractor I talk to that use to work for them doesn't want any more to do with them. They don't seem to want to pay anybody. And they make it really inconvenient to pay rent. If you want easy, it...

    Very trouble free pool

It looks like I'm going to have zero issues with my pool now n the near future. My landlords is raising my rent by $150. Just got notice today. We simply can't afford to stay here paying that much ch more with a summertime power bill of $400. Our next move will most likely be to a townhouse or...

    Prayers please

Thanks, Matt. My daughter's started out much the same way two years ago. Just an out of it look in her eyes and speaking gibberish. This one was the worst. Took tons of meds to stop it. They are putting her on Keppra to control them. She had been on Troliptol. Just weaned her off it about two...

    Prayers please

My daughter has been seizure free for two years. That is, until tonight. This was by far the scariest one yet. I was out scooping leaves out of the green goopy pool when I heard "Go get daddy! Now!" I ran into the house to find my wife dragging my daughter into the living room. She had rolled...

Can you have a vacuum on an Intex Ultra Frame?

I have a summer waves pool, which is almost identical to an Intek in most respects. Mine came with an attachment that fits over the skimmer basket and creates a port with suction to which you attach a hose for vacuuming. Nothing fancy, but does the job. The adapter Ter looks like this.

Greenish Yellow Residue on pool floor

I will second this. Knowing CYA levels let's you get the right chlorine levels for a slam, and sanitation in general. Mine was 90. Had no idea. At that level, I needed a chlorine level of about 10-12 in order to just maintain. Slamming was way higher. I'm down to 40 now. Chlorine level can be...

    Second SLAM to kill algae

Okay. Good news is that the algae seems to be clearing up. Better news is that my CYA is down to 45. So I need less and less chlorine to keep my pool clean. Changing the filter daily is helping tons. I will definitely have to check the ladder before putting it back in. Hadn't thought of all...

    Thoughts on cya reducer

My apologies for starting a firestorm of a thread. Hopefully this will save some people some time and money so it isn't time wasted on anyone else's part.

    Second SLAM to kill algae

Really starting to wonder if I should just forget it for now and wait until the storm passes. This thing looks really bad and might obliterate my pool. not to mention that my wife will have the bags packed and ready to leave as soon the newsman gives the go ahead to evacuate.

    Second SLAM to kill algae

Will try to keep at it, but drain and refill is starting to look cheaper and faster.

    Second SLAM to kill algae

Finally got a Taylor test kit. Pool was a little cloudy after being completely clear from the first slam. Then I got a green tint all over again. Decided to drain half my pool to lower CYA and decrease my chlorine demand. Latest numbers are FC 17 (plus enough chlorine added to maintain shock...

OK. It looks like I'm getting that test kit earlier than I thought. My wife just ordered one from Wally world. Should be here this weekend. Looking forward to getting some really good test results. I will post them as soon as I get it here. - - - Updated - - - Sorry Dom. I just noticed your...

My shock was done first with some shock granules. But cya was my issue, so started using liquid chlorine.

    My first algae bloom

Still using the simple test kit from Home Depot. The good news is that I've got it cleared up. I can see bottom at night with the porch light on which is twenth feet away. I do hope to get a proper test kit when possible. Just need to watch the money with five little mouths to feed. Kids eat...

    My first algae bloom

Good news. Replacing water lowered the CYA. Hit the pool with a good doe of chlorine and leveled off the alkalinity with muratic acid. Pool is looking much clearer. Hoping to have a swimmable pool in a few days. Thanks for all the help.

    My first algae bloom

I plan on getting the kit as soon as I can. If nothing else, I'm going to get the cya test from tftestkits. $17 doesn't seem too bad. If I can get cya right and balance the ph and alkalinity, then it should get simple enough to maintain. At one point, everything was just working. Then I got lazy...

    My first algae bloom

Okay. While I was at work, my mother-in-law stopped by and took a sample to our local pool store if it is accurate, my readings were better than I expected. I'm somewhat surprised that they see 40 to 100 the ideal range for stabilizer. Mine is at 95. So I know I need to get that down some more...

    My first algae bloom

Okay, I come with my tail tucked between my legs and my head hung in shame. I was told, repeatedly, that I should stop using pucks. I failed to listen. Now I have a green pool with chlorine levels at about 3.0. Only other issue was a leaf stuck in my pump causing low flow. I'm almost certain the...
