Poked a hole in the bead section of liner

How do you patch the bead portion of the liner? Would putting a bead lock help prevent the hole from getting further pressure?

Poked a hole in the bead section of liner

Hi guys, Got a little overzealous when trying to pop my liner back into the track. I was rushing and poked a small hole in the bead section of the liner. I’ve attached a picture. Is this hole going to get bigger and spread? What is my recourse? Will a bead lock across this section help? thanks!

    Pool opening...low water.

So I ended up filling the pool up. And realized that in the shallow end there were folds that had formed as it had emptied in that side. There is a leak (losing about 2 inches a night) and we have a diver coming to find the leak/fix. Is there anything I should do about the 2-3 long folds in the...

    Pool opening...low water.

If there is a leak, it has to be in the liner right? since the water level was below the skimmer line at closing and it was also plugged up.

    Pool opening...low water.

Haha thanks for the advice.. it's "centimeters btw". Weird, but we have both inches/cm on our rulers! 4 inches makes sense.

    Pool opening...low water.

Hi, I'm based in Ontario, Canada. Today the company we hired came to open the pool; but they literally just took off the cover and left a note saying there was a huge leak in the pool. I've posted a picture; but could it be purely due to evaporation? I called the store and they said to fill up...

    Hayward Max-flo 1hp overheating.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. It is: https://hayward-pool-assets.com/assets/documents/pools/pdf/manuals/MaxFlo-IS2800X5.pdf?fromCDN=true Contrary to my signature, it's a single speed pump. The pump should be about 10 years old (already there when I moved in 3 years ago). Model#: SP2807X10W...

    Hayward Max-flo 1hp overheating.

Hi, I've been running my pump almost 24/7 over the last few weeks (lots of use, higher temperatures). On Sunday, I noticed a slight burning smell and realized that the pump was really hot. I turned it off overnight and restarted it again the next day. After about 30 minutes, it gets hot again...

    Total Alkalinity test with TF-100

Hi Guys! I was getting readings of 80-100 throughout the season from my pool store. And regular test strips indicated TA of around 80 (so no where near the high end of the spectrum). But after using the TF-100 kit, it took 25 drops of R-0009 to turn the water to a light pink (from green). Is...

Jandy Lite 2 Heater - Manually Lighting Pilot

Thanks for the heads up. Will get someone in to take a look at it. Unfortunately there aren't any error codes; it's an older model (my guess is over 10 years old). https://www.mypool.com/Help-Files/Jandy-LG-Heaters.pdf

Jandy Lite 2 Heater - Manually Lighting Pilot

Hi All, I have an old Jandy Lite 2 Heater. Had a tech come in to start it up this year; the ignition switch is broken, so he had to manually light it. The problem is that the pilot light went out again. I tried to relight it myself, but wasn't sure where to stick the lighter while holding down...

Okay. Thanks! I will deal with it after the rain comes....not even sure it'll be that much.

    Before the rain? Potential Thunderstorm?

Hi Guys, Is there any prep to do prior to expected rain/potential thunderstorms (<10 mm of rain). The weather is expected be humid as well. My details are as follows right now (before the rain): pH = 7.8; CYA = 40; FC = 6; TA = 80 Should I step up the Chlorine tonight to shock levels (10-12)...

Order of operations: High pH and Low TA

I used liquid chlorine from the pool store. What happens if pH is still elevated after my FC drops below 10? Should I wait for FC to go lower and see if my pH drops to the 7's? If I add muriatic acid to force the pH lower won't it lower my TA further? Say my TA drops further after balancing...

Order of operations: High pH and Low TA

Thanks! Sorry forgot to update my signature. I recently purchased the TF100 kit and had a friend bring it up from the U.S. When should I start being worried about elevated pH (or rechecking the pH)? when the FC dips below 10? In general, my pH has trended higher this year (have had to add...

Order of operations: High pH and Low TA

Hi Guys, My FC is elevated (I put shock level chlorine in, 16 ppm, CYA @ 30) at the moment given the hot weather over the long weekend, significant pool usage, and recent thunder storms. My pH is now high (above 8.2) but my TA is low (60). Which issue should I address first? Should I...

Clumpy stuff/grey or white sediment at bottom of pool?

Hi, Given the high temperatures over the weekend. I put in extra chlorine to raise the FC to 6ppm (CYA is about 30). The pool store ran out of liquid chlorine so I had to settle for granular chlorine (should have gone for bleach instead). I noticed that there's some sediment at the bottom of...

    TF-100 Test Kit..what to order?

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Will get the XL version, R-0009 (TA Reagent), CYA refill. Just to be clear, just because you can use FAS-DPD, doesn't mean you should use it for every day testing right? Do y'all just use the OTO test for that? Ryan

    TF-100 Test Kit..what to order?

Hi, I'm looking to order the TF-100 test kit and have it shipped to a friend in the U.S. So i'm looking to optimize what I buy in 1 purchase. In addition to the kit (I run a chlorine pool), what other chemicals should I buy? Thanks in advance. Regards, Ryan

Just opened pool, PSI building, Gauge off?

Hi, Quick question. I just opened my pool on Monday. Filtering is going well as the pool is clear enough to vacuum. However, the pressure has increased from about 12 PSI to 24 PSI. I've backwashed/rinsed, but the pressure isn't dropping. I noticed that when I shut off the pump, the needle...

FC and optimal level for swimming.

Thanks for the response guys! Our season is almost over but I think I have a better handle on things. So all else equal, would one be indifferent between CYA 30; FC 5 vs. CYA 60; FC8?

FC and optimal level for swimming.

Hi, I had an issue with algae a month ago and got the problem taken care of by SLAMMING it. Took almost a week and a half until it became clear. I made the mistake of reverting to chlorine dispenser/pucks (with stabilizer) to maintain my FC in the 5-7 range (CYA had dropped to 42 after I did a...

Pool filter - PSI unchanged for days.

Yes, but what can be done in the absence of a proper test kit? It's being ordered. Wouldn't normal filtering/vacuuming bring up the filter pressure? Is there an issue with the filter as well? Ryan

Pool filter - PSI unchanged for days.

Hi, My Hayward pool filter (sand) typically has a normal PSI reading of 15. However, recently, after shocking the pool, the water has turned cloudy. I can only faintly make out dead algae at the bottom which I vacuumed to the filter. It's been cloudy for 4 days (shock was done last Sunday)...

    Yet another algae question

Thank-you! Sorry, just had one last question. If I am vacuuming dead algae out, do I need to go to waste? If I want to preserve the FC level for longer, can I vacuum to filter and/or use an automatic vacuum (Verro 500?)? Thanks! Ryan
