    Resurfaced pool still cloudy

So deep cleaned the filter. Took quite a while to get all the Crud out. I attached a piece of PVC to my hose since the hose get bending. Every time I stuck in gently a cloud of brown sediment came up. The pool store guy said it will never work. Wanted to sell me sand. I left. So now my pool is...

The sand is total compacted in places. I have cleaned the filter regularly. When the pool place start the pool...

    What am I doing wrong

As an ex-bench chemist it cracks me up to watch the way they titrate in stores. They over shoot all the time. I only have them test so I have a written "record" is my installer says something about my problems. My favorite trick is to fill my bottle with distilled water and take it in to the...

    Automated Testing

As an ex-bench chemist I like the drop test. Got a brochure for the waterguru and $75 off. While technology is cool I'm not an early adopter. I did get w Warrior SI pool robot and it rocks. Automated testing will come along but I think it is still iffy. Keep in mind those on TFP vs the majority...

    Solar Touch programming

I have a Pentair solar touch and the Intellipro 2 VST pump. I have the RS-485 cable installed. I am a bit confused by how to program the VST to be controlled by the Solar Touch. I thought I had things programmed correctly. But at the end of the day after the end of the schedule the pump does not...

    Hacking Pools?

I'm sure some of you saw this. As a computer geek I can see someone now attempting to hack pool automation systems. I'm sure folks aren't always using strong passwords https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/security/florida-near-miss-cybersecurity-worst-case-scenario-n1257091

    Sand Replacement research

It is posted often that despite what pool stores say you don't need to replace sand. Or that there is little research data to support this. I decided to do some research on what municipal water plants do as well as other research on sand filters. In general municipal plants try to avoid the...

Looking to buy a new automatic pool cleaner

Well I do see that something like a Maytronics Solo 10 can save money without all the bells and whistles. But I also have a solar heater and need to run the pump at a given RPM on season to keep the system pressure up. So I'm running the pump anyway. My local dealer carries the Maytronics line.

So I've pondered this since getting our pool resurfaced. Had a new skimmer put in and they company put a new main drain cover on that is complaint with current code. The skimmer has a single pipe. My question is should the main drain (at the bottom) pull a vacuum at all? Or is it there to...
