Newly Installed Hayward Gas Heater (advice on opening pool with)

Thanks! Yeah, fortunately natural gas is pretty cheap here right now. I figure getting it up to a decent temp will take me longer, but hopefully the solar cover will keep things from cooling back off as quickly once we are ready to jump in. In the summer, it’ll be a non issue as the temps get...

Newly Installed Hayward Gas Heater (advice on opening pool with)

Thank you both! Good call, I’ll make sure I complete the overnight test. Wish I could’ve gotten a bigger heater, but my gas meter and gas line situation prevented that (would’ve been astronomical in cost

Newly Installed Hayward Gas Heater (advice on opening pool with)

Greetings all! With the recent events, and having the fam stuck here at the house nearly ALL THE TIME, we decided we'd add a gas heater the pool so we can open a bit earlier and enjoy more swim time this season (and hopefully many to come). There was a heater previously installed, but this was...

Help with return jets coming off!

Ok...update: I have had luck using teflon tape. I bought the extra thick type (a pink color), and used a lot to wrap around 9 or 10 times. The eyeball threads seem to grip a lot better and stays on tighter.

Help with return jets coming off!

I’m having the same issue on my return eyeball. In my case, newer replacement eyeballs (Hayward threaded, etc), don’t seem to have quite as deep threads on them. Im going to try teflon tape first, and possibly a seal compound next. Ill let you know how it goes. Any other ideas are greatly...

Diving Board fulcrum question (first world issues!)

Thanks! Good idea...maybe some strong dbl sided tape along with some small, discreet clamps will help.

Using household bleach in place of store shock

I acquired a pool last year when we purchased a new home, and though I started with powdered chlorine/shock, I quickly switched to liquid bleach and I have not looked back. As mknauss stated, the powdered stuff will add calcium or cyanuric acid (CYA), both of which can lead to issues in excess...

Diving Board fulcrum question (first world issues!)

So I purchased a S.R. Smith Frontier 10 foot diving board at the beginning of the season this year. Got everything installed OK on my U Frames, the kids love it, it works great, looks great, etc. My only problem is that the fulcrum I ordered never seems to stay seated in the right position...

Located leak at skimmer (after pressure and dye tests) - Ideas on best repair method?

Thanks. And I am happy to report no leak still! What a relief to come home and NOT have to pull the hose over to the pool again. Looking forward to a lower water bill too.

Located leak at skimmer (after pressure and dye tests) - Ideas on best repair method?

Thanks! Yeah, very much like clay. Pretty easy to work with. This stuff will come in handy for sure. I had called Leslie's this morning and they had it in stock, so we were thinking the same there. About $4 more than Amazon, but I didn't have to wait. Here is a pic of the end result...

Located leak at skimmer (after pressure and dye tests) - Ideas on best repair method?

I appreciate all the help, everyone. Due to the location of the separation being where the wall meets the perpendicular skimmer cover/front gasket, do any of you suppose it is worth applying some marine sealant into the crack first, followed by the epoxy? I know that marine sealant is a bit...

Located leak at skimmer (after pressure and dye tests) - Ideas on best repair method?

Thanks, I was hoping this is what everyone would recommend. Trying to find a local store that carries it so I won't have to wait for 2 day Amazon Prime shipping. - - - Updated - - - Howdy, neighbor - many thanks!

Located leak at skimmer (after pressure and dye tests) - Ideas on best repair method?

I apologize if I posted this in the wrong section.... Greetings! After spending nearly 2 weeks doing various tests, I located a leak at my skimmer, just inside around the gasket intake. I have taken some short videos (links below) of the dye being drawn into the leak spot and have some...

Ditto here...Can't login at all. (Just spins and spins, then "There was an error logging in") I went from excited to bummed in 10 seconds. I would totally buy the app, but I need to know it works! I will hold out hope. Just please let us know when it is fixed. I am very interested in the app...

    Chlorine (and effects of sunlight/shade)

That is more like what my repair guy thought. He really though 33,000 was a bit high. I would have to agree after taking these measurements. Just had our first swim today. Cold water!

    Chlorine (and effects of sunlight/shade)

OK all, here are my measurements (tried to do the best I could). Let me know what you think! Were they way off in the size? (see pic attached) It does measure a few inches above 9 feet in the very middle (I am guessing 9 feet, 4 inches) At the stairs end it starts at 3 feet and gently slopes...

    Chlorine (and effects of sunlight/shade)

Hey guys, Thanks, you know, I guess I never really thought about it, but just went along with the size mentioned on the home inspection report. It is about 10 feet deep on one end to the middle. I recall my pool guy saying he thought it was a little less (I believe he thought more like 25000)...

    Chlorine (and effects of sunlight/shade)

Thanks Richard320. I am (thankfully seeing blue water - a little chalky/cloudy albeit, but so much better than what it was just a day ago.) If it is one thing I have learned about swimming pools - it's that patience is a virtue. At my previous home, I owned a spa...such a breeze maintaining...

    Chlorine (and effects of sunlight/shade)

Thank you, domct203. Yes, I have read that too much shocking is not advised before. Currently I am at the end of a battle with algae and trying to get the water cleared up, so I am adding liquid chlorine as needed until it maintains. My CYA is a bit low, but not dramatically (just a cpl points...

    Chlorine (and effects of sunlight/shade)

Hi All, Though I am a new member here, I have been frequenting the site and forum since I acquired my 33,000 in ground concrete pool last July. I have a question about chlorine and sunlight/shade. My question is this: I know it is always recommended to shock/add chlorine at night or in the...
