    Algae Algae Algae

Hi Dawn and welcome! The proper test kit is your compass and the great people here can guide you once your accurate results are posted. It seems like a bigger investment than you expect, but you'll end up paying more by adding $tuff to your pool that you don’t need. Not to mention the...

Muriatic acid - add at skimmer?

Lower the open bottle into the pool by a return so it "floats", then tip it to pour the MA. Makes it simpler and safer. If you ever do get splashed, there's thousands of gallons of water right there to rinse in. 😎

Water is clear, deep sections have green tint, don't think it's algae

Mine is somewhat the same. The steps get more sun, which I assume bleaches them over time. They’re also in water that’s more shallow. You can see the difference in both pics which were taken minutes apart….so same conditions for both. Deeper water gets darker, just like at the beach. Your...

    Just overwhelmed

^^^^^^This. @Squatting Hen My water is probably from the same source as yours. My TA finally settled at 60 and pH became much more stable. It took a while but as you've read/heard most any pH reading in the 7’s is good. TA will eventually find it's happy spot as you dose the pH.

    Just overwhelmed

A trick mentioned here is to put ping pong balls in the pool and aim the returns to get them & the water moving correctly towards the skimmers. Might help since changes in direction and type were made recently. Get that "toilet bowl" effect! Welcome to TFP!

    Robelle cyanuric acid

Same here with the 4lb. Clorox bags. Some dissolve very quickly, others not so much. Still better than paying way more for the liquid that separates into heavy sludge at the bottom and refuses to leave the bottle!

It’s open! It’s green! Looking for help! TEST RESULTS ADDED!

Please….NO glass around the pool, for the safety of all who use it. It breaks and you'll never find all the pieces and shards. Feet find them though. 😔

    Houston area liquid chlorine source

The website says you can also text on the same number. Might be worth a try. I don't know these guys, but they were mentioned by another TFP Houston pool owner (about 4 months ago?) who said they were legit. Hope it works out!

Planting Crape Myrtles around pool - is this a bad idea?

Beautiful trees. On the flip side, tons of dropped blooms, sticky sap and as mentioned, get ready to find them poking up in nearby flowerbeds (uninvited). Not sure how bad their behavior is in the North, but ughhh, I would have picked something else if I'd known better at the time. YMMV.

Pre pool opening (white water mold)

@Badpoolmom outstanding work getting your pool cleared up! Sometimes cleaning your test vials with rubbing alcohol or straight chlorine can help to get more accurate readings. Especially those pesky CC's!

    Warrior SE died what's next

I'm two weeks shy of 4 years with my Warrior SE. Recently been holding my breath every time Kevin goes for his cleaning cycle. Only had one "burp" when the impeller had a tangle last year. @markayash I've been looking at the Pentair 360 if Kevin goes hoofs (treads!) up. I had a Jandy Rayvac...

Pump and PVC Melted under Blanket w Halogen Light during TN deep freeze 2024

Bottle is 1/2 to 3/4 full to allow for compression and, no I didn’t pour it into the skimmer. Thanks for checking! I edited my post above. Just checked and pool and skimmers look good so far. Waiting for thaw.

Pump and PVC Melted under Blanket w Halogen Light during TN deep freeze 2024

I completely agree about the stress. I am not young…past retirement age and can't be out breaking up ice in frigid temps or messing with generators like many are able to do. I did the same thing to prepare my pool this time as I did in the Great Texas Freeze 3 years ago. Took about 15 minutes...

Exploding Pool Filter (According to the news).

He's very, very lucky to be alive. Apparently left equipment pad to freeze without draining it. He thawed the pump and…… MODS….thx for moving my post. Wasn’t aware of this thread. (y)

Answer to your "what is this?" Part #11 on the schematic. Also would help us if you could add your pool equipment info to your signature. I'm guessing what your filter is…but knowing is better. Thanks!
