    Pool Math........The App

I absolutely love this app. Hope to see charts showing values over time in a future release.

What did you do to your pool today?

And here I am ALL excited because our water just got UP to 84-85 degrees. Much too cold a summer up here in the northeast.

Accuracy of TFTkits Vials May be in Question...

I think y'all may need to find a troubled pool to go help with as you clearly have your pools well in hand and trouble free! :D Also, given where this discussion has gone, it may be more relevant in "The Deep End"

    Pool Math........The App

Even with a 5 month season where I live that is only $1.60 a month. Gladly pay that for the ability to track my test results over time. Can't wait for the planned upgrades!

Thought I could trust the pool store!

With an FC of 1.2 my vote is for dead algae. I'd say perform an OCLT to confirm. Regardless you have to get that FC up for your CYA, recommended range is 4-6 for CYA of 30 with minimum of 2

CYA/FC PPM Chemistry levels vs Physical swimmer safety standards FC ppm limits

Yeah, I agree with that. I'm sure Chem Geek was saying "Safe" in that no algae or bacteria was going to live for very long. Of course, at some of those ridiculously high numbers people might not either!

CYA/FC PPM Chemistry levels vs Physical swimmer safety standards FC ppm limits

I simply pulled that information from Chem Geeks post: https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/558-Pool-Water-Chemistry "So, red means bacterial growth while green means possible algae growth. Blue is the safe area."

CYA/FC PPM Chemistry levels vs Physical swimmer safety standards FC ppm limits

Red numbers - not enough active cl2 to kill bacteria Green numbers - not enough active cl2 to prevent algae growth Blue numbers - safe to swim!

$200,000 pool, ready to set it on fire!

If this is what happened, some people have had success using PolyFill to trap the iron particles to remove them from your water. You would put the PolyFill in the skimmer basket and would need to change it out every so often. Some people also simply use some paper towel in the skimmer basket to...

    Trouble Keep Chlorine

I'm sure an expert will chime in to confirm, but I believe your TA will be harder to move with increased borates as they will buffer the pH rise you need after the acid additions. You can still accomplish, just will take longer.

    Pool Math........The App

Latest update fixed my app icon issue on Android. Thanks for all the hard work on this great app.

    Pool Math........The App

Definitely fine with you 'back burnering' this issue since it doesn't affect app functionality at all. Just curious if any of your Android test units are running Nougat or not as I am wondering if this bug is OS dependent.

    Pool Math........The App

I don't believe any entries are saved on the free version as I don't think is syncs to the server. I believe that part of the subscription fee is being used to cover the server expense. As the app exists today, all you can do is look at previous log entries, however, it has been hinted that...

    Pool Math........The App

Anyone else only getting the green Android icon instead of the normal Pool Math icon after the last update? Trying to figure out if the problem is my phone or the app. App works fine, just the icon is messed up.

A Perfect Storm: Me Ignorant & Professionals Tricky

Sock method in the skimmer will also work as the sock holds the CYA granules until they are dissolved. Just need to keep your pump running the entire time the sock is in the skimmer as the CYA is acidic and can damage things otherwise.

Pool pump died and going out of town for weekend. Need advice.

I'd also suggest if you have a solar cover be sure to put it on as they may help protect the FC from the sun.

**New pool owner with questions on my current chemical balance**

Something no one mentioned is that your pH measurement is most likely incorrect. Once your FC level gets above 10 it affects the pH test and will give false readings (usually higher than actual I believe). So I would not lower pH at this point, especially since 7.4 is in range.

    Chlorine levels will not maintain!

Re: Chlorine levels will not maintain! No, cal-hypo adds calcium. Dichlor and trichlor add CYA.

    Pool not holding chlorine

That is normal with the FAS-DPD test. Disregard any color change back to pink after the water has been sitting for a while.

Don't need to worry about cleaning or backwash until pressure rises 20-25% above clean pressure.

Leslies Fresh N Clear Oxidizing Shock

Actually, if you look at the FC/CYA chart for an SWCG system your target FC is 5 when CYA is 70. https://www.troublefreepool.com/content/128-chlorine-cya-chart-slam-shock

Are you doing a 10ml or 25ml sample size for CH? If 25ml, then your test puts you in the 250 range.

Re:  Pool Math........The App This has occurred for a number of people when upgrading the iOS app. Check out post 646 for what you need to do to get the problem resolved.

    Question on overnight chlorine test

Sounds like you never actually completed the SLAM. You met 2 of the 3 criteria, but if your water wasn't clear you never met the 3rd criteria and should have continued the SLAM until the water was clear.

I have a few issues with the TFP method...

I like Ronplc's idea of yearly donations too. I figure my donation is most likely a small percentage of what I am saving not going to pool stores. Went silver this year, going to have to upgrade to gold next year.

I know what you mean about the weather, been much too cold here too. Spent most I my youth near Harrisburg, but spent many Saturdays in Happy Valley at PSU games as my parents were alums.

I have a few issues with the TFP method...

So, my saga started last summer we purchased a home with a 24' above ground pool. Having watched several neighbors struggle with keeping their pools clear while spending many dollars at the pool store I figured there must be a better way and my research led me to this site. Closed on the house...
