Switched from a Cartridge Filter to a Sand Filter Today

Haven't posted in a while, but I gotta say I am very impressed with the increased flow rate from the switch. The water is clear regardless (I'm a firm believer that proper water balance is the key to that), but I like that it will turn over the water much faster. Hope you all have a great pool...

Is the Aquacomb better than a spray nozzle?

I need to clean out my cartridge filters. I haven't cleaned them since 2017 (feel free to judge, but I like to live dangerously). The pressure on my filter housing is at 40 psi and the max pressure rating is 50 psi, so I figure it's time. Last time I cleaned them I just used a spray nozzle hose...

    Marina Pool Spa and Patio

I found out about Home - Marina Pool Spa & Patio through this site. I've talked with both Margaret and others there on the phone. They are knowledgeable, and friendly. Hands down, this is the best place to buy higher end items. Can you find them cheaper online? Maybe. Is it cheaper than your...

    It finally happened

After three years of owning a pool, I finally had an algae bloom. I had a buddy’s nephew pressure wash my concrete pool deck, and he got a bunch of organic material in the pool. Bloomed within a day. Here’s to my first SLAM!

    Any links for cheap salt?

I need to buy a few hundred pounds of salt to hit my target. Anyone know of any current deals on salt? I can't WAIT for my water to rise a few more degrees :)

My Rite of Passage has Begun

A big storm came through and dropped innumerable leaves, seeds, etc into the pool. This is my first Fall with a pool and I plan on keeping it open year round. Wish me luck! After grabbing leaves all day I came out to the pool at 4 AM to find this:

I've had high cyanuric acid since I took possession of my house on August 5th. Finally had enough: https://vimeo.com/178836343

    Looking for saltwater switch-over advice

I'm a first-time pool owner. We're taking possession of the house/pool next Friday. The pool has been "maintained" by a "professional" pool company once a week, 52 weeks a year (no closings). I've been testing the water on my own to get a feel for the way it's been taken care of and am less than...

Easy, cheap way to fill your TF-100's graduated cylinders

I just thought I'd throw this out there. I've been using a small pipette to fill my graduated cylinders and it takes multiple squeezes. I ran over to Walmart to see what they had to make it faster. I grabbed one of these, 97¢. Or you can splurge and get a colored ketchup and mustard (oh, the...

Hi all, My wife and I just bought a home with a pool. We've never had a pool before. My dad grew up with a pool in the late 50s and early 60s and swore he would never own his own based on the amount of work involved. Things have progressed more than a little bit since then I'd guess. I've been...
