Thanks. Oddly, I did just get a notification of your response. I'll wait and see what develops before I bother him.

    Notifications not coming in

I am not receiving e-mail notifications that there's activity on one of my posts or a thread I'm watching. I'm pretty sure that I've set all required parameters properly and I've checked my SPAM boxes. No e-mail from the Forum although I do receive occasional mail about the test kits. The e-mail...

A sad day at our house-bye bye pool :(

Oh no! I'm so sorry to see that. At least ours is draining just 2" per day. So, these constructions in the works, talk about resin pools and such, where would I find those threads? Because I suspect we'll be building a new one next year.

    Leak in liner

I am going to attach several photos of the current situation. This shows the strut (is that the right term?) no longer fully attached to the metal due to the skin warping. This is the warping and bowing of the metal skin at the bottom. It developed a couple of years ago possibly due to the...

    Leak in liner

I appreciate your comments regarding leaving an AGP empty over winter due to the likelihood of collapse in the absence of the internal support provided by the water. The pool is still draining about 2" every 24 hrs. The leak is probably on the bottom of the liner where the 'sinkhole' in the...

    Leak in liner

Thank you. The pool is now nearly empty which means the leak is on the bottom rather than the side. We'll try to locate it and patch it but won't be able to fill the pool until late next spring. I only hope the sides don't collapse.

    Leak in liner

Thanks for your response and the photos. You backfilled with clay over the stone before you put the foam down? No sand layer? And no coveing (sp?) along the bottom? I've always been under the impression that the cove is necessary for steel shell AGPs but that may not be so for Intext pools. ETA...

    Leak in liner

There's a hole in my liner . . . The water drains about 2" per 24 hrs. It's now down below all fittings and is at about the level we put it when we winterize. We're hoping it stays because that would give us the opportunity to really examine the sides, see if there's a tear at that level. If we...

    Cloromax in pool

Thank you. I haven't noticed any such residue yet. Hoping that one bottle of mistake won't cause any permanent grief. We went out looking for plain regular Clorox today but could not find any at four different grocery stores and a couple Dollar stores. All Clorox products have Cloramax. The...

    Cloromax in pool

Oh boy! We inadvertently added 121 oz of this Cloromax to our 12,500 gal AGP yesterday. I just now noticed the new label, "Performance" and "Cloromax Technology". What symptoms would I notice? The water is clear, doesn't have an unusual odor, and tests normal (no changes in test values). I...

    Pool Blaster Max

It certainly is an improvement over the suction side setup. As long as it gets the sort of debris that settles in my pool, it's a winner. I follow up the vacuuming by brushing with a WallWhale attachment just to get whatever the Blaster might have missed into the water so it can be filtered out...

    Pool Blaster Max

At the end of June I bought a Pool Blaster Max after doing some reading about their functionality here and elsewhere. I have an AGP which is used primarily as an exercise pool for our dogs. The dirt that doesn't filter out (because it doesn't stay in suspension) is silt, bracts, catkins, other...

Cleaning AGP before Spring opening ?

The ice on my AGP has thawed and I would love to hook up the equipment but we, too, may yet have some very cold nights ahead of us and a damaging freeze is a possibility unless we keep the pump running all the time. To prevent the greening of the water I've scooped out the leaf-and-sticks...

    Skim-eeze ?

Thanks for the video link. Looks like it does a nice job and probably does not interfere with the weir. It does stick out into the pool quite a ways and would probably get in the way of my dogs' enthusiastic pool use.

    Skim-eeze ?

The PoolSkim is what I use and am very happy with it. I'm on my second collection bag, the first one having unraveled at the seam. New bag was $12 including the shipping and is much better made. It catches nearly all the dog hair that floats on the surface, very impressive performance. Dog...

    Skim-eeze ?

I, too, would be interested in how it's clamped on. I wonder if it interferes with the action of the skimmer weir?

Where does one buy bags of Vermiculite locally?

Uline, the supplier of shipping and warehousing materials, sells several different grades of vermiculite in large quantities for a very reasonable price. There's a distribution center near Allentown, PA, close enough for you to drive and save on shipping costs. It's where I bought the...

    Backwash water for irrigation?

Not a problem. I run my backwash on the lawns and trees. A properly maintained pool has less chlorine in it than what many municipal drinking water systems provide from the tap. We also add salt to our water for "feel" and have noticed no adverse effect on the vegetation.

Anyone successfully shocked a green pool with pump off?

Re: Anyone successfully shocked a pool with pump off? You can add chlorine and mix it in manually using a pole brush or leaf net, anything that helps you move the water around, but you cannot get the water clear without filtration. Those dead algae have to go somewhere.
