    Light niche bonding (pics)

Second what JamesW said. The more bonds the better. I know my Inspector would not pass it if the light niche is not bonded or grounded. 12 Volt or not. If it has a lug it should be bonded/grounded. Perhaps they insist on the ground because someone in the future good potentially swap out the...

Bad install? Glass tile and coping

I read final inspection to mean final building inspection with your municipality. I could also see how you can read it to mean final review of work done. Anyway he appears to be more than difficult. I would try talking to him and go over the line items in the contract that are in question...

Bad install? Glass tile and coping

Not that I'm backing your PB, but in CA, plaster is done after final inspection. Safety features if it relates to the final inspection will need to be operation or it will not pass. After all inspections pass you can plaster and fill.

    Golden Retriever Is Here

Great! Glad your kids did not have a reaction. My whole life has been spent around dogs. It's nice to see my 8 YO take charge of a 65 pound Belgian Malinois and show no fear. I truly believe the relationship that can be built between a child and a dog is amazing. Best of luck!

What to do for Cleaning until can use Robot on New Pool?

I used a brush/vacuum head. No wheels. The brush is cheap and made for vinyl pools but works. I would not use it to scrub the pool, just push enough to clean bottom so it wouldn't break the brush. Then scrubbed with normal brush. The bristles are nylon so should be safe to use. Of coarse...

    Help with walkway design

Is laying the flag stone in cement and filling the gap with grout an option? Don't know if that would be a compromise you are looking for.

What should be the Space between waterline tile and coping

Just trying to offer the explanation to why there is a gap. The difference between 1/2 and 1/4" is 1/4". you can ask that the tile be removed and the gap be O" at the low spot and have 1/4" gap else where. What I'm trying to say is there will be a gap.

What did you do to your pool today?

Building a section of Trumps wall around my equipment and adding a roof to protect from sun damage. Any benefit to adding razor wire?

What should be the Space between waterline tile and coping

To go deeper into my response...... your original bond beam height was set to your coping material and skimmer set to the middle of the tile height. Now that has changed. The new tile is probably set to the middle of the skimmer. Your coping is thinner or thick than the original material and...

What should be the Space between waterline tile and coping

What was the coping before? I would imagine the tile line is level and the pool bond beam is not. Therefore the gap difference. IMO 1/4" deference in the bond beam is not out of the normal.

New Austin Build - We have a Pool!

Not a concrete expert here but I had a weird experience with my stamped concrete. I had existing stamped terracotta colored concrete. Had a concrete guy I know and have used several times come out and extend my patio. He matched the color almost perfectly given the fact the old concrete was...

    Owner Build DIY?

A few months ago I finished my second OB pool. What made my life easier the second go around was i found there are people who will handle the plans/permits for you. For a small fee, the came to my house, gathered information, and returned a week later with permit in hand. If you do OB make...

Puppy school will be a failure if you are not involved in it and keep up the training. Dog training is like learning a foreign language. If you don't keep up on it, you will loose it.

Auto Drain? Water Level wont stay up

See if you can unscrew the pipe. It is probably glued to a fitting that can be unscrewed. You can find the part in the irrigation section of a home store. Buy pvc pipe to fit it and pvc glue to glue it into the screw in piece. You can screw it back in and mark the pipe with the level you...

Auto Drain? Water Level wont stay up

Pictures will help someone give you an answer. Are the "random" holes the skimmer and autofill? If you have a vertical PVC pipe as the over flow, then you would have to raise it by adding a coupler and extra pipe or unscrewing the pipe and adding a longer one from parts from the hardware...

    Pressure Test Failure

I would prefer to have the plumbing under pressure at least a few days before gunite to be safe. Then continue to keep it under pressure till plaster just to make sure nothing is damaged during any of the following work.

    Pressure Test Failure

Pressure will go up and down a few degrees based on temp. Would not worry about that. I don't think it would be unusually if it started at 50 PSI in the hottest part of the day and in the morning if it was cool it to have dropped 4. Then raise as the temps raise.

I am driving myself crazy with the location, shape and size, help!

    New solar heater

Mark (mas985), I see you recommended above a flow rate of 40 GPM. My solar installer told me they recommend running a flow rate of 7 gallons per minute per panel for 4x12 Swim Joy Panels. I have mine for 6 panels set to 45 GPM. Does this sound correct? Would this mean Jravenstine should run...
