Teribble's Vegas OB Pool / Spa

More or less, yes. The only parts buried are the return and drain pipes, but virtually every concrete shell pool has buried return and drain pipes. Yes, there are more pipes and the plumbing is a bit more complicated, but the only moving parts are the pop up heads and the multiport valve at the...

    O/B Pool Henderson Nevada..

If you really want to eliminate/minimize the kink you can put a pipe bending spring inside the pipe before heat bending it. Just be careful not to get the spring stuck in the pipe (ask me how I know). Here's one for 1 1/2" pipe...

    Old School Pump Controls

The green colored tabs on the edges of the dials are for the on time, and the brass colored for off, so it looks like your filter pump is set to run from 10am to 5pm, and the pressure side cleaner pump from ~9:45am to ~3pm. But the time may not be set correctly on those timers, so actual...

Low Profile Returns for Sun Shelf

These ones will fit nearly flush with the plaster. If they don't quite fit flush you can also round the outside edge a little to make them more toe friendly...

Savings of Heated Pool with Cover ?

Hah! Between 78° and 80° is preferred swimming temp for us, and anything over ~84° starts to feel too much like a bathtub to be refreshing. The blazing ambient heat we have here likely has a lot to do with that though.

    Wet Edge Signature Matrix

I know it's a relatively new product, but does anyone have experience with Wet Edge Signature Matrix? A few months ago I was getting estimates for plaster, and asked several of the plaster contractors if they'd be willing/able to blend pebble sizes. From my work experience with concrete...

    DIY Pool Rehab

Several out of state/country work trips recently have slowed down progress on the pool considerably. I did get all the plaster chipped out and cut out some sections of the concrete deck though. I also got rid of the old tiny and broken equipment pad, and built a form for a new one. Tree roots...

What is this piece of equipment? Looks like a filter

Those filters typically come with a spanner wrench, because they can be really hard to unscrew after a while. You can likely buy a spanner wrench for it for a couple bucks, but an oil filter wrench will also work if it'll fit around the housing. I think this might be the correct spanner, but...

    Suggestions for umbrella sleeve

I've had good luck with the little plastic wedges meant for leveling tables. Three of them evenly spaced do a decent job of holding the umbrella upright and help keep it from rotating when the top is tilted. These may work even better, but I've not bothered to buy one and test it out yet...

    Pool Pump & Plumbing Setup?

I'm far from an expert, but since nobody else has chimed in yet I'll give it a shot. The two pipes coming out of the ground and going into the pump are your intake lines, likely connected to one or more skimmers and possibly a main drain. Pump draws water from these pipes and pushes it out of...

    Pentair SuperFlo VS pad orientation

If I'm not mistaken, some of the newer Pentair Intelliflo VS pumps have control panels that can be rotated 180° to suite different layouts.

Suggestions for Low Flow Water Feature

Thanks for the suggestion! Something along those lines might work great. I had a pool expert out to look at my pool today though, and he says the 3/4" returns are from an old whip hose system, and the main trunk running inside or behind the bond beam on those was typically either 1 1/4" or 1...

Suggestions for Low Flow Water Feature

I'm in the process of remodeling my pool, and am considering adding a small wall on the edge of the pool with a water feature. There's an abandoned return line system that I can tap into for water, but the problem is the lines are only 3/4", which I don't think will be able to provide enough...

Brown etching on stainless steel in pool house?

It's really steel (or more accurately iron) that's highly sensitive to corrosion from exposure to chlorine/chlorine fumes. Stainless steel is steel with chromium added to enhance the corrosion resistance. Other metals like molybdenum are sometimes added as well to increase acid resistance. The...

    "Funny-Acting" Spa Valve

I'm far from an expert, but I did help a neighbor fix his spa jet with identical symptoms. Turned out of be a little piece of debris clogging the orifice inside the jet. My understanding is that most spa jets can be removed for repair or replacement, but they often require a special tool. We...

    Solar Covers...useless?

I'm guessing the temp sensor the Screenlogic app is using is in the plumbing somewhere and not in the pool? This means it's only measuring an accurate temp when the pump is running. And also, as previously mentioned, to get an accurate temp you really need to run the pump for quite a while to...

    Solar Covers...useless?

Ours made a huge difference, but some of that may have something to do with the extremely low humidity here. That said, removing it and putting back on got pretty tedious after a while, and it started to disintegrate after only 1.5 seasons, so we have no plans to get another one.

New Build- want to include a small Lazy River

My understanding is that a beach entry requires much more space than even a larger tanning ledge. FWIW my pool has a tanning ledge/baja shelf that's about 6'x10' and is 14" deep. I'm in the process of remodeling, and planning on extending it to be 8'x10'. If I were building a new pool with a...

    Smart bulbs?

Many (most?) of the color LED bulbs for pools change colors or change between programs by turning the switch off and back on. Not sure what type of home automation you have, but should be easy enough to use your HA system to program the smart switch to turn on and off as needed to get the...

    Help with remodel design

In the process of rehabbing our '70s era rectangular pool we discovered that the pool floor wasn't much of a floor at all, just 1/2"-1" layer of concrete on top of dirt, without any reinforcement at all. Despite the fact that this somehow worked well for over 30 years thanks to very stable soil...
