To use borates or not to use borates, that is the question.

A couple of replies here: I've always had bees and wasps near my pool water, with and without borates. If your fill water is high in TA then adding borates is going to be nothing but a waste. The pH will always climb fast due to the high TA, you will never be able to keep the TA low enough if...

Is Leslie's salt cell testing any better than their water testing?

Yes, Leslie's is fine for this test as it either passes or fails. You can also hook it up on your system and check the diagnostic numbers to see if it is working. If Leslie's is close by and the cell is not installed yet, get it tested there for your peace of mind. Like Jim said though, they...

    SWG Life

This reply might go against most opinions that I've seen on this site but, I've heard that running at high output % vs a lower output % is not good for the cell. The electronics get hot while running and don't have time to cool down if the system is set to a high output %. Heat and electronics...

Is there an automation system that can change speeds of a VS pump while running solar

I want to know if there is an automation system that is capable of reducing the speed of the pump after the solar speed is activated. The reason why I want this option is when solar demand turns on, the pump needs to run at a high RPM to make sure the panels on my roof are fully primed, but...

Jandy AquaPure 1400 SWG Accidently Left On

Yes, so most likely you will need a new board if the codes don't go away.

Jandy AquaPure 1400 SWG Accidently Left On

Have you shut off the power completely to the SWG? Try that if not. Code 171 says the board needs to be replaced and 189 has to do with a relay. If it doesn't clear the codes with a complete shutdown then I believe you will need to replace the board.

Welcome to TFP! Please fill out a signature to include your pool equipment. Something is wrong with your main filter. Nothing should be getting by it that clogs up the SWG filter screen. Take your filter apart and check it for closely tears, misalignment and manifold problems.

Circupool RJ 30 SWG Replacment cell vs new system

It's not just a TFP thing, most manufactures have a little disclaimer somewhere in the manuals about sizing a SWG system. Jandy says you might consider running two of their units if your pool size is near the upper limit and you live in year round climates such as Florida, California, etc.

    Truclear problems and questions

It is working, at least part of the time, if you put in chlorine two days ago to raise it to 5 and you are still measuring 5. If the unit switches polarity during a cycle it would be interesting to see if it stops working. It seems like it is working twice as hard as it should be according to...

    Hayward Aquarite

Welcome to TFP! When turned on the AquaRite should always have the generation light on even though the unit might not be generating chlorine at the time. The light confirms that you are in a cycle and depending on the percentage it is set to it will generate chlorine for the amount of time for...

What's the biggest salt system availalbe?

The SJ units only work with the size of cell that they are rated for, while the RJ series allows you to use different size cells. Marty is right on about the CYA level, raise it to 80 and you'll use less chlorine overall. Find the lowest speed that keeps the SWG working and bump it up...

How do you drain your Salt Water pool?

Welcome to TFP! Give us your options that are available to you to get rid of the water. I send my water to the sewer that goes to the ocean. Do you know the water table height? You don't want to float an empty shell if the water table is too high.

    Salt in brand new plaster

My understanding is most softened water will add salt to the water which is why they say some people need to avoid drinking the softened water, such as people who have had a stroke. It is a small amount overall and you won't have to worry about having too much salt in the water for the plaster...

Okay, I'm researched out... which SWCG should I get?

Do some more searching from other suppliers, those state that they only have a one year warranty. Go on Hayward's site and a new system should come with a three year warranty. They have switched their stand alone cell warranties to one year, but not for a complete system.

    M600 not really doing anything

Make sure the impeller is clean, the filter basket grids are clean and do not have any holes in them. My S300i cleaner has a similar basket and the filter grids needed to be replaced so it would pick up the fine debris. It did handle leaves and such but not the fine stuff.

Trouble getting chlorine levels high enough...

Raise the FC above 5ppm for the OCLT, turn off the SWG and run the pump overnight. Measure the FC and check for CC's when it gets dark and then early in the morning. This is a classic case of the SWG making just enough chlorine to prevent a green monster from blooming but not nearly enough...

My robot, about 4 years old, would not remove the fine dirt from the pool until I replaced the ultra fine filters. On close inspection I could see some very fine pin sized holes in the filters and I'm guessing the fine dirt would go right through the filters and stay in the pool. The filters...
