My robot, about 4 years old, would not remove the fine dirt from the pool until I replaced the ultra fine filters. On close inspection I could see some very fine pin sized holes in the filters and I'm guessing the fine dirt would go right through the filters and stay in the pool. The filters were also very dirty compared to the new ones and I'm also guessing that the water flow through the robot was not ideal. Anyways, with the new filter grids it cleans like it is brand new once again. The bright spots in the old filter grid picture are not the holes I'm talking about.

yeah, I can imagine that over time picking up leaves with hard stems or some other twig like debris might be able to puncture the filter material at times. All that water pushing the schmutz up into the basket gives it a bit more ooomph power to stab.

Costly replacement?
