With MA I measure it out into a plastic measure cup and pour slowly in front of your pool return. Use pool math to figure how much. My Ph is pretty stable but when I do have to tweak it I add less than what pool math says. It always easier to add more than to overshoot.

The pool store does not take into consideration the FC/CYA relationship. Which is why my water was a mess! The TFP levels for CYA is 70-80 for SWG pool. 30-50 for a regular chlorine pool. Sorry about your TA question, I rarely have to fiddle with that. My Ph is pretty stable.

Like Richard320 said, just drop your Ph a bit and jump in. Use bleach to sanitize.

What are YOUR test results? I wouldn't use either one of 'em . Can you return them?

Welcome, Brian! I lurked and read and read and read some more before I joined. Bought myself a great test kit (TF100) and Speedstir and left the pool store in my rearview mirror! Got things turned around from the bad pool store recommendations and the water has never been better.

Ditto wjr75 post. Maybe not the cheapest but certainly the most convenient for me. I usually buy one 4 pound jug a year from Amazon.

Re: Using bleach Use PoolMath to help you out. My pool is 17500 and a half gal. of 10% brings it up almost 3ppm. Congrats on your TF100 purchase! You're gonna love it. It will keep you out of the pool store AND save you a bunch of $'s.

I have the PB Max also. It's the only vac I use. I have a tree line about 10-15 feet west of my pool so I get a ton on tree dirt and all the "extras" that come with it.

Most of us have theTF100. It's a great kit and easy to learn. I can pretty much guaranty that you will not regret your purchase. The cost of it will be less than one trip to the pool store when you start having problems doing it their way. Grab the Speedstir too if that is doable for you...
