I have a similar problem. I thought about river rocks, but… In my case rocks would meet the grass. There would need to be a barrier installed to keep the rocks in place and give the whole thing a tidy look. How to do this cheaply? About three quarters of the pool perimeter would need that barrier.

With 3HP pump you will be nowhere close to running at the maximum speed. You will be able to run your pump at very low RPM, saving money on energy. My pool is about the same size as yours. My 3HP VSP pump primes at 2200 RPM easily, drawing 2.2A current at 240V. A good skimming effect it achieves...

Did you try restarting the controller by turning off the pump's circuit breaker? Wait 30 second before turning the breaker back on.

Did you buy the pump from poolpartstogo.com? Call them. Their support is excellent. Your pump’s controller (a little black box on top of VFD drive) probably needs to be replaced.

I second that. My 280 runs 12-th season without any issues and it's very effective when adjusted correctly. Runs every day 1.5 hour. I pull it out of water only to clean the bag. (And, of course, for the winter.)

Answering your question 3. It’s absolutely fine to power SWCG from the same breaker as the pump. This way you are making sure that the SWCG will not run when the breaker cuts the pump off.

This is a very hard problem to solve - it's a case of predictive control but with no inside into the future. To have a shot at getting a usable solution, you would need to incorporate the weather forecast.
