How to wire a variable speed pump with an Intermatic P1352 ME timer?

With the VSP pump you will need to power it directly from the 2-pole circuit breaker (2 lines and the ground wire). You can leave the booster’s wiring as is. The VSP pump has its own scheduler which will need to be programmed to be in sync with the PE 1353 schedule for the cleaner. Not ideal...

    Trimming grass edging Suggestions

I have a similar problem. I thought about river rocks, but… In my case rocks would meet the grass. There would need to be a barrier installed to keep the rocks in place and give the whole thing a tidy look. How to do this cheaply? About three quarters of the pool perimeter would need that barrier.

    Rain/Heat "causing algae"

This is hardly a unique field where it’s hard to change preconceived notions. Take any hi-fi audio forum - it’s full of discussions about “musicality” of amplifiers, “breaking in” speakers, cables costing $1k per foot and bringing “clarity” and “tight” bass to music, etc etc. So called...

Single Speed Pumps vs Variable Speed Pumps

Why do you insist on making a specific number of turnovers per day? Will it make the pool water more sanitary? Even if we accept that the filter can stop bacteria, how long you would need to wait until the bacteria is caught by the filter? And ultimately, it would need to be killed by chlorine...

Polaris 280 Tangles Itself Backing Up

Welcome to TFP! Does the speed of 280 is the same as last year? The manual states how many revolutions per minute the wheels should make. Also, with the hose untangled, does it go straight across the pool or moves in circles? You can find a lot of videos on YouTube. Here is one on how to adjust...

About to Re-Plumb...Really need some expert advice

You mean in unions? Nope, no teflon nor anything else to seal threads. The only element that seals is o-ring. Cover o-rings with a thin layer of silicone grease. It is important to realize that components connected with unions have very little room to wigle - they need to be exactly "in line"...

    What limits pump size

With 3HP pump you will be nowhere close to running at the maximum speed. You will be able to run your pump at very low RPM, saving money on energy. My pool is about the same size as yours. My 3HP VSP pump primes at 2200 RPM easily, drawing 2.2A current at 240V. A good skimming effect it achieves...

    B&D pool pump clock issues

Did you buy the pump from poolpartstogo.com? Call them. Their support is excellent. Your pump’s controller (a little black box on top of VFD drive) probably needs to be replaced.

    Polaris 360 vs Polaris 380

I second that. My 280 runs 12-th season without any issues and it's very effective when adjusted correctly. Runs every day 1.5 hour. I pull it out of water only to clean the bag. (And, of course, for the winter.)

How to detect a full skimmer?

I do not store any historical data in my pool controller - the charts are based on 12-hours memory buffer in node-red. I did some testing by limiting the water intake, where the current dropped by about 0.1A @1600 RPM (10% of 1A). You will find the sensor size and other info in the link I...

How to detect a full skimmer?

My DIY controller utilizes a current sensor to determine the current drawn by the pump: https://www.senvainc.com/catalog/documents/downloadcenter/C-2344 Installation Manual.pdf Here is a chart showing VSP pump's current within an 11-hours long day: As per Senva, the sensor maker, its accuracy...

    RJ45+ questions on flow

Answering your question 3. It’s absolutely fine to power SWCG from the same breaker as the pump. This way you are making sure that the SWCG will not run when the breaker cuts the pump off.

    RJ45+ questions on flow

I have RJ60+ and Black & Decker 3HP pump. The speed I need to run is 1600 RPM. In addition to SWCG minimum flow requirement, there is also a need for the skimmers to work. Although my RJ60+ would work at 1500 RPM, I find that the pool surface skimming is inadequate at that speed. At 1600 RPM...

Using solar panels as UV meters

This is a very hard problem to solve - it's a case of predictive control but with no inside into the future. To have a shot at getting a usable solution, you would need to incorporate the weather forecast.
