Aiper Surfer S2?

Can you start a separate thread on the S2. I would love to hear about its performance.

Most importantly I am interested if it dumps out some debris while going in reverse. Also how well does it get to the whole pool.

I’ve never seen mine do this. Is that a problem with the original Surfer? The basket design was changed on the S2…wonder if that’s why?

I had the original Surfer S1 and sent it back because it would last through the day just fine after a charge. It had plenty of charge at sun down. Then it would drain the battery keeping wifi going through the night. The battery was completely dead in the morning and by the time the sun was going down it wasn't charged enough to turn on and get to work. To be fair it was winter and the days were short (not that short as I'm in south Texas). I preferred the motion for my pool as it did a better job at getting the debris on the wall. It missed it, but turned sharply and as it moved away from the wall it "happened" to blow the debris off the wall to be picked up later. It also is a good looking skimmer - much better looking than the betta ( Super minor stuff counts too right?). I would love to know your experience with the run time without charging for your S2. Can you just leave it in 24/7 and have it do it's job with no charging?

I got the betta SE Plus and it does a great job at running all day and half the night. It blips around and still does some skimming in the early morning and gets to full work an hour or so after the sun comes up. Really the only complaint I have on the betta SE Plus is the backwards motion that lets out the very small debris that it had picked up. It's not a deal breaker as it will clean up after itself and my pool is nearly always free of debris. I have had the betta SE Plus for 7 months now and have charged it twice - once when new and once when I took it out for freezing temps.

I just got my Aiper Surfer 2 and so far I love it. To answer your question about debris dumping in reverse, mine has not. It has a flapper door keeps debris from coming out. I have a very simple pool, no steps or ledges. At first it didn't bother with the skimmer, but then it was sideways right in front of the skimmer. It came with a pool noodle which I then put in the skimmer and haven't had any problems since. It gets the corners and edges and so far it's been great. It's just so shocking to find the pool looking pristine without us having to skim it. Edit: one other thing I forgot to mention is that it has an app for your phone if you're interested. I'm not a big app person, but I decided to try it. It doesn't do a whole lot, it keeps track of how many cleaning hours it's done each time it's started up, or logs that show a total use time. It does have where you can put it in standby if you wanted. But what I like is the remote control on the app. It works great if you wanted to move the skimmer to a particular spot. I don't see using it much but right now it's kinda fun :)

Folks,

Bad news again! I bought my S1 06 July '24. Sadly it was resting 5' from the wall yesterday with the red light blinking. Took it out and did all the normal revival stuff with no success. This will be the second return in less than a year for me. I can limp along on warranty but this doesn't bode well for the long term. Unless something changes dramatically I think I'm going to go back to a corded version and use the under ground tube back to a wall outlet I installed through the slab when I built the house. Robin's (wife) not happy with this approach since it means the cord replaces the old hose from the old style cleaner. I hope this trend doesn't continue with battery operated devices... we're picking up our new Tesla today.

Chris

*** Edit -just realized this is the S2 thread. Probably good for readers here to know but don't want to hijack this so please respond on the S1 Thread here.***

I guess I am superficial because I like the look of it over the Beta Plus. Mine comes in Saturday and I am anxious to give it a whirl. The current discount was also a factor in the decision.

It has a new firmware from 1.0 to 2.0 so make sure you update yours when you get it. Very easy to update it through their app.
Does the new firmware allow you to schedule? I really like my S1 and would consider the S2 if you could leave it in the pool and it would charge solar and run a good part of the day. The s1 killed the battery running WiFi all night and then took very long to charge solar from completely dead.

Somebody with an S2 - can you leave it in the pool working most of the day - day after day - without having to charge it with a cord?

I've ran my S2 for multiple days without using the cord to charge. I don't leave it in 24/7 because I have an auto cover and cover the pool every night. Lowest mine has ever gotten is 91% battery left after about 4-5 days of using. In fact only time mine has ever been plugged in was when it was new out of the box before using it for the first time.

When I first got mine I charged it up with the cord. Since then it's only charged by solar and charge has stayed at 91% for the past week that I've been using my new Surfer 2. To answer your other question, in the app it does have scheduling but I haven't used it yet to see how well it works.

That is great news. Me betta does the backward dump out fine particles (not the end of the world and it reminds me to empty the basket) - might consider this one now that it reliably runs on solar.

I've had my S2 for a couple of weeks now and it's great, especially during pollen season. The amount of pollen this thing collected was astounding. Great battery life that recharges faster than it runs down during the day, keeping it going all night. Doesn't get stuck on anything in my pool except for the cord for the Dolphin robot.

The greatest thing about the betta was the 24/7 run time in sunny conditions. my only gripes are that it does not have bluetooth control (aiper does) and the propeller propulsion is too weak to swim upstream in stronger winds. have you been able to observe its performance in breezy to windy conditions?
