Test after opening salt pool

Sounds good. Tomorrow afternoon will give you a better gauge for what's going on. Unless it pours again. Its been doing it since Friday, so no promises there.

How far did the FC drop ?

FC is now at 17. Looks like its dropping 1 a day. Not super fast but its cloudy, cold and rainy in NJ…
PH stays at 7.5-7.8

Ignore the Ph at 10+ FC. If you're in the right color range its probably right, but i wouldn't dose from it. 10+ FC often causes false highs and turns the sample off the charts purplish.

Salt, calcium and cya are pretty stubborn. Maybe thats why I understand them. I dunno. :ROFLMAO:

But yeah. Not saying they can't mix quicker after adding / rain / winter, just that they might take a day to disperse. Never trust them until they've had their time just in case. None of the 3 comes out easy but it's super easy to add more in a couple days if need be. You'd really, really, rather add more in a couple days than have to take it out.

Hi again. So Fc is dropping fast, now at 9. CYA looks like is at 35, quite low. Should i add stabilizer and if so what kind? Or just wait? Also, should i turn back on SWCG at this point at 10-20?
Thanks

Leave the CYA. Always round up to the next 10. Your CYA is 40.
Yes, turn your SWG on.
High enough that you can maintain your FC for your CYA. Link-->FC/CYA Levels
I'd leave your CYA at 40, until you can reliably maintain your FC. Once you get experience doing that, then raise CYA.

Morning again…something odd happening with FC. Today it shoot up to 16 after a day of having switched back on swcg at level 30. I am turning it down to level 10 and see if tomorrow better. Is it possible that the swcg is malfunctioning? I had similar trouble in keeping Fc low last year….thoughts? Thank you

Yes it is working but wonder if its working too much
The more it produces, the less you need to run it, the longer it takes to reach its hours of in use lifespan. Something something gift horse. And they never make more than their fair share, so youre calculating the production or the daily UV loss wrong.

Sorry, i am not understanding your answer

The cell is working to its capabilities. You aren't making any extra.

You are either underestimating how much FC it is set to produce, or overestimating how much FC you are losing daily at this point in the season. I'm mostly local to you and only losing about 2ppm a day in full sun. It would be less than that with any shade.

Do you have the Pool Math app ?
PoolMath

It has a feature that you can put in the pump run time (hrs) and your % output of your specific SWCG and it will tell you how much FC will be produced in that timeframe. Or you can change to say you want x ppm FC output at a pump run time of x hrs and it will tell you what % output to set the SWCG.

Thank you all. I set the swcg at 10 and will check FC tomorrow. Question thought, do you run the swcg always or you switch it off here and there? I have the pool math but not the salt function. I just wonder if swcg meant to be always on or not
