Since it’s rotomolded cutting holes in the bottom of the hot tub is probably a bad idea. I might cut holes in the corners though.
Like I said above you'll likely see a dozen or so hand sized holes if you flip it over. You may even be able to push some insulation out of the way and use the existing holes, or adding a couple more shouldn't matter in the bottom. With a little exploring it'll be easy to be able to gague where it's hollow underneath, or too close to the tub bowl to cut.

There are no holes on the bottom. It's solid. I had mine moved a couple of years ago, and they stood it on its' side. This company was sold about 5-6 years ago, and from what I'm hearing, service has gone severely downhill. Used to be fantastic. A much bigger spa company bought Tuff Spas just to get their patented cover.

On the plus side, Tuff Spas had two major claims to fame:
  1. The cover that opens with one hand and never needs replacing (in my 40 years of owning a hot tub, this is the BEST cover I've ever had. Mine is going on 10 years old and still works and performs like new.
  2. Every component using in the Tuff Spa is an industry standard readily available part. There are no custom parts that won't be available in X amount of years.

Rats. My similar tub had holes, but thanks for confirming before draining and flipping. Lol. Welp. If there were plumbing problems on the back side of the tub, they'd cut access holes in the bottom before they cut access holes in the wall, so i still say that's the best way to get up in there.

The Tuff Spa should have a removable panel on all 4 sides of the hot tub - mine does.

I would remove some of the insulation near the corners to make it easier to add insulation into the corners. But instead of foam insulation which is difficult to install, I would use something like this so it is removeable for easier maintenance:

Good idea. Actually this photo above is the corner I sprayed foam into the other day. It's not nearly as easy as I thought it would be. There's a reason it's supposed to be done at the factory during the build process. I have no idea if my attempt did much good. About 20 min ago I stuffed fiberglass insulation (I know most suggest not using it, but that's what I have and even when I cut away foam to get access there is just not much more room than to get my fingers in there) in the cavities and tried to pack it as tight as I could.

I just wish they sprayed the Darn thing with Full Foam like they were supposed to because I really like the hot tub.

I'd dispute the charges at this point. Telling a homeowner to use the difficult spray with almost no access is hardly "making it right". You were sold something and they didn't deliver. They made a half rear attempt at fixing it, yay for that, but still fell short.

The northeast is very consumer friendly for these matters.

I submitted a complaint to the BBB the other day. I'm definitely not pleased. In the complaint I selected "Replacement" as the desired resolution. But I don't have much faith that they won't deliver another one with missing Full Foam or other issues. So, we'll see how they respond to the BBB complaint. I'm a reasonable dude and hopefully they show a desire to NOT have an unhappy customer.

That helps nobody but the BBB's sales pitch to businesses for membership fees.

Dispute it with your credit/debit card company. This isn't they sold you the one with the waterfall but not the light up waterfall. Largely misrepresentating the energy consumption makes you not want to run it.

I was not aware working through the BBB was ill advised. Thanks for the tip. I'll be honest, I've never in my life disputed a charge with my credit card company for a product I actually received.

The name suggests an official entity, but it's a private company with no enforcement power. They get their funding from businesses paying yearly membership for good ratings.

You make your own mind up how much disputes matter. :)

Me either but again, this is a big deal. You paid extra for energy savings and never would have bought the tub if they told you it would cost $291 a month.

Maybe they come pick it up once your money is returned and you're free to find a better tub. Maybe it makes them replace it with what you paid for. Can't hurt to try.

On the few occasions I've had a significant issue and it wasn't resolved by the company, I submitted a claim to the BBB. In each case I received follow up calls almost immediately and the issue was resolved quickly. So yes, the BBB does have weight with the companies.

Ugh, I just got some type of update on my "Service Request" from the company indicating they are sending a technician to my house. I can't imagine a technician is going to take all the insulation out that I stuffed in, and then try and spray foam all the voids. It's literally not possible at this point. Full foam is supposed to be done during the manufacturing process. I'm looking for either a full return (And I'll buy a different hot tub from another dealer) or some type of credit back. Half measures are meaningless to me now.

Update: No reply from LPI, Inc (Aqua Living Factory Outlets) to my BBB complaint yet and no further communication from the company about sending a technician out to my house. This company is pretty underwhelming so far, and that's not surprising given the negative reviews you can find easily about them. I've gotten a little more comfortable with the fact that this will be a "Lesson learned" type experience and my next hot tub will be sooner than I like and with a reputable company.

IMO companies proved they can get away with awful quality control and equally as awful customer service through the Covid error. While I forgive them to a degree because there was only so much anyone could do at the time, very few have felt the need to restore QC/CS back to how they were.

IMO you have a strong case for a Visa(etc) dispute. Let the dealer fight their case.

I live in the same area as you in CT and my recently purchased Sundance tub was consuming 12 KW a day at 100F, used daily , 350 gallons. I noticed a ton of heat loss from around the control panel side of the tub and pumps. I insulated that area and found my usage is now down below 10KW a day.
Your usage is over 2.5 times what mine is. I don't know how
The pictures attached are before and after insulating. I have a thermometer mounted inside the spa at the control panel and the temperature is 76F in the cabinet. That heat was just escaping to the outdoors through the uninsulated outer panels. I did not have insulation to do all four sides but I plan to.

Man I wish the inside of my hot tub looked like yours. Since it is rotomolded there is just not access like that. It’s a real rats nest and hard to get access. The spa tech arrives in 30 minutes…….we’ll see what he thinks soon.

UPDATE:
The tech left about 20 min ago. Not surprisingly there isn't much he could do. He's going to report back to LPI that clearly this hot tub doesn't have Full Foam as advertised and can't be done in the field after the fact. And from there, we'll see what LPI says to me.

This is good news! Did he give you any kind of paper that says this?
