Cappy has a new pool and needs help

Try it again with fast glances. You can pour the sample back and forth as many times as you need to get a couple that agree.

I'm often reminded of Bill and Ted when Death keeps losing and they ask him if he wants to try best of 7.

'DANG RIGHT' he replied. :ROFLMAO:

Ok. The diluted test has twice the variance so 90 seems solidly fair.

Up to you if you want to drain again. 90 is manageable but you'll need to run in a much higher range and may use some extra chlorone doing so. If we get any wet weeks, it won't take long to drop closer to 70 where it's totally manageable.

Hows the water look ? If you see algae, you need to SLAM Process and that will be spendy at 90 CYA. You'll probably want to drain again if so. If clear,
run an Overnight Chlorine Loss Test to see if you need to slam. If you pass the OCLT then you can drain for a little edge going forward, or just wait it out for the CYA to drop.

Thanks for this detailed response. We are going to drain one more time to make it more manageable.

We appreciate your help so much - we have already leaned so much!!

Off for the 3rd and final drain and 🤞 we will be swimming in a few days!

Print the SLAM process out (link at end of sentence). Read it three times. Keep it with you and follow it. Link-->SLAM Process

Okay so things are going well.

The previous owners said the pool was between 20-25,000.

I guessed 23,000, but based on the results of the shock/chlorine levels I think it is closer to 19,000.

An hour after shocking 8:30pm FC was 36.

7:00am FC 33

11:00am 29.5

Our FC for shock was supposed to be 24. It has been sunny all morning and rain scheduled for this afternoon. Do we just let it continue to drop to 24 and then hold it there until we meet the shock requirements?

Thanks!

Yes.

Have you scrubbed everything? Behind lights, in main drain, removed ladder and scrubbed inside the tubes, skimmers weir doors? How often are you testing and replacing? Keep going.

We haven't removed the ladder, but are scrubbing the walls floor and vacuuming twice a day.

We are testing four times a day, but have only fallen below 24 twice in this process, so have only had to add chlorine twice.

ooooh... you are doing good. Get that ladder out and scrub it inside and out. Scrub everything I listed above. Remove the main drain cover and scrub in there. With that OCLT and pool that clear, there is a pocket of algae you haven't found.

No need to raise FC above your target. Test FC and add enough to get to target, wait, rinse repeat.

Great job!
