meteor shower last night. i was wondering who would end up with it...
It would need a big hole through it to be the ball valve. But it was a fair guess at the time. Lol.
What else is upstream ? Clearly it didn't float into the skimmer, nor did it Houdini it past the skimmer basket.

I don't think it is right. The ball you have is not 6" around. It also looks solid. Float balls are hollow...
Is it metal? If so, a zinc ball used as a sacrificial anode. Don't need it. Also used as a weight to keep the basket in place.
