I read in the CYA Testing - Further Reading that "If you saw the dot at 40 and not at 30 then you call it 40". Just want to confirm this is how to read the scale. If the dot is visible one drop shy of 30 line, then it's clearly 40, but what happens exactly at the line? Read as 30 or 40? One drop over the 30 line should be read as 30 right?
You don’t measure drops above or below the line. You fill it up to the line all in one go and then you check to see if you can see the dot.
Understood. What I meant was how to read it when the amount filled it is just below, exactly at, and just above a line.
Are you meaning what to do if you don’t get the level to match up with the line exactly? That doesn’t matter. The tolerance of the test is +\- 10ppm so as long as the water is pretty close to the line, it’s considered AT the line.

+1. I find it's much easier for me to tell it isn't 30 and it isn't 50. Then I'm happy with 40. (Or insert 3 sequential 10s)
SWG is going swimmingly overall. I have my pool timer set to start 3 hours after sunrise and stop 3 hrs before sunset so the pump runs a bit longer every day and adds more chlorine as the day length increases without me having to monitor the generation level too closely, which seems to have settled around 45%. My pH is jumping around though. It was 7.7 May2, then 8.2 on May26, so I added the acid. 7.5 on May29, and jumped back up to 8.0 Jun2 (today). I verified the electronic reading with a chemical test. It tracks. Other than MurAcid, I only added CaCl for CH and that was on May 29 about 4 hours before the 7.5 reading. Is this normal?
That's genius !!!!! It will help as the days get shorter also. I won't be paying attention because SWG and I'll waltz out there one day in Sept and the FC will be a 20. Whoopsie. Lol.

Along with Poolstored above ^^^^, only lower the PH to 7.6 or 7.8. It will likely stay in the high 7s longer.
Thanks for both suggestions. Will do. And to set my expectations under normal circumstances, should I expect the SWG pool to typically need MurAcid every week or so?

Clarification on TA test. Solutions changes color (to purple) at 7 drops but turns red at 8 and stays red after. What's the correct reading? 70 or 80?

Brought the TA down to 60 4 days ago and pH up to 7.6 after a couple of rounds of acid+aeration. Tested today and pH is up to 7.9 (alternating with 8.0 so maybe 7.95?) and TA is up to 70. Not sure what's going on. This seems just as rapid of a pH rise as before.
How did your TA get to 70? See how long the pH stays at 7.9.
Not sure how TA got to 70. I was away for 3 days. Tested upon return and found it tested higher. Will do on checking pH.
