Well another season underway!

THanks guys!

I have to share my pool store story from over the weekend. I am lucky that I have two pool stores within driving distance that carry Taylor test kits and reagents. The one I prefer to go to has a very bad construction zone between it and me. The other one is south of me, and I never can remember which of the two pool stores (they are less than 2 miles apart) carry them. One of them carry my filter (filter cartridges), the other carry's Taylor reagents.

I needed CYA test reagent plus I thought I needed stabilizer. So I drive down to the first store thinking it was the one that had the Taylor kits. Unfortunately, it was the other one. I went in to see if they had any of my filter cartridges in stock while I was there. They didn't. After the guy checked his stock, I asked him if he carried Taylor reagents (almost certain he did not). I said I needed to test CYA. He said they had them but only for their trucks. He then told me they tested water for customers. I told him "I prefer to do my own tests." At this point his demeanor changed from helpful to "I can't wait to get this guy out of my store." LOL

I asked him if he CYA powder. He did and at a reasonable price. I then asked if he filter gasket grease. He did. So bought those two. Continued to try to chat him up but by this point he realized he wasn't going to sell me a bunch of magic potions to dump into my pool and then have to come back for more. LOL

He also didn't like it when I said I only put liquid chlorine in my pool.

But I saved the best part for last: Before I could tell him I prefer to test my own water, he started pontificating about how he had heard people talk about "chlorine lock from CYA being too high, but he had never seen it." I told him I had. In my own pool the first year I had it with a CYA well over 300. (Closer to 400.) HE said "I've seen it over 500 without chlorine lock." Yeah ok pal! LOL

Anyway, I paid for my CYA powder and gasket grease, drove to the other store and bought an industrial sized CYA test reagent! (Oh, I asked about the filter cartridge at this second store. The guy said they could order it. When I asked for price he said "$465". ROFL. I can get it for just over $200 online. Thanks but no thanks.)

Ah the pool store. Always a fun experience................
