What "starter" equipment do I need to gather, in order to fire my pool guy?

I'm having trouble finding a list of "starter equipment" on the site.

Does the following sound like a start? I put this together based on what I've seen my pool guy do.

1. Pool net (to clean out leaves and other debris)
2. Pool brush (to clean the pool walls)
3. Test kit
4. Chlorine (liquid)
5. Chlorine (tabs, for the floating thing)

Also, appreciate any tips on which of these items to get (i.e. which brush and net works best)....

Welcome to TFP.

You probably need to have at least one gallon of 31.45% Muriatic Acid to lower your pH.

We don't recommend using tabs in the floaty thing but if you must TriChlor - Further Reading

Thanks for the reply and for the links. I have updated my signature with information about my pool. Any suggestions for a decent brush and net? Or do I even need those if I already have the automatic vacuum?

18” nylon bristle wall brush with curved ends
8’-16’ aluminum pole with outside cam
14” flex vac head with metal handle, bearing wheels
18” leaf rake with standard deep mesh net
vacume hose with swivel cuff
This is part of the list I give customers who want to maintain their own pools.

Pool toys.

One thing that has been overlooked so far is a plastic measuring jug. At least 4 cups but 8 would be better.
Kitchen scales - I use the kitchen one when my wife’s not looking.
SpeedStir.

Safety glasses. There can always be the odd splash when handling acid. Not a big deal when that splash lands on your skin - just rinse it off in the pool. But you don't want splashes in your eyes.

I fired my pool guy when I saw him on my security camera and from the time he pulled up to the curb to the time he drove off was 7 minutes and was charging me $125 a month for 48 visits a year.

When I was first into the swimming pool business (before building poolsI) I owned my own pool rout in the OC, had some 50 customers and it was a side job.
I would explain that I was not to be hired for a amount of time to be spent on the pool but how the pool looked and chemical balance when I left.
During SantaAna wind events from October to March the amount of time was much longer than the average days service time along with after the pool party’s , gardener, dogs and so on.
