So it happened. Raccoon visit...

So we made it through the Hurricane ok and I got the pool cleaned up and chemicals were in good shape despite 20" of rain.
Then I get my first experience with (what I assume to be) a raccoon. First step was LOADED with his "offering". I've seen them in the area and noticed thir muddy prints on the deck occasionally but this is the first time they left me a deposit in the pool. I got a bunch out with a net and vacuumed up the rest that was scattered about. Dumped a couple gallons of chlorine and let the pump run all day. I've read all the horror stories about roundworm but I'm not going to freak out about it as the pool is now a bit chilly and there won't be much more swimming this year anyway.
This was two nights ago and I rigged up the lounge chairs as a temporary blockade by the steps (see pic) and luckily haven't had a repeat occurrence. I'm thinking about building a PVC frame thats light enough to move around daily but am wondering what t good covering might be? I'm envisioning something like the nice PVC patio chair fabric but not sure how I'd attach it. I've scoured the internet and haven't seen much.
Anyone build something similar or have any ideas?

Thanks!

I like your temporary blockade.
For the covering, I'll just say that you don't want to accidentally create a sail so don't go too light or too solid so air can't go through.
Also, keep in mind, raccoons will climb over, under, through or destroy anything in their path if they really want to go somewhere.

Thanks for the ideas. I looked at the spikes but my stairs area is all rounded. Not sure how I'd make that work.
Whatever I end up making (leaning towards a PVC frame with some plastic roof paneling now) will be held in place with a sand bag or two likely.
Bummer...

Cut a shape to match the curve of your pool from a 4x8 sheet of exterior plywood (2 sheets if necessary). There are a bunch of coatings to make it look nice and further waterproof.

Then get these spikes...they are segmented and can be broken into 4" long segments. Just segment snake them on top of the curved board following the outline of the pool.
