IG Vinyl Build: It's Happening!

It's more evident with the machine in the background. But. You've got plenty of fill dirt. (y)

It's also amazing how deceptive it is in the first place. It's one thing that it's not what I do all day, even though I'm handy. But I had two different pros specifically looking at it with me thinking it wasn't so bad either. Then the excavator showed up and was all 'this is SLOPED' :ROFLMAO:

As a neutral 3rd party advisor it's maddening to see how much progress you've been able to make in such a short period of time, given how long of a wait it was to get to this point. You and I are in the same boat of trying to get this done before winter so we can close everything up.

+1. As you see first hand, each crew really needs just a day to do their thing. And in 2 years (?) PB couldn't pull the electricians for a day. Or the excavator, plumbers, liner guys, etc ? Even if it was piecemeal one step at a time with a month in between ?

Something else was going on with PB. The universe did you an unseen favor forcing you away from them IMO. His house of cards is going to crash and you are free and clear of it when it does.

100%…just chose the wrong PB to begin with. Had I known these guys 2 years ago, I would’ve had 2 summers with a swimming pool already. Very maddening, but hindsight is always 20/20.

Definitely. I can only assume he couldn’t build the pool for the price he gave me and is glad I cut him loose. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s out of business soon though, he actually said to me he’s probably gonna have to go to court over some builds he started in 2021.

I just feel bad for my neighbor. I don’t see any way the snake PB builds his pool and he’s probably gonna end up without a pool because he either won’t pay or can’t afford what they cost now.

Nice having experience building the pool. 2 guys on this crew are 67 and 75! Work like they’re 25 though!
Phhht, that's nothing. I work like I'm 85! Oh, wait...

Anywho... Happy to see your progress!

NICE!!! What will they do the steps with?
Didn’t finish the steps for multiple reasons: big pool/took longer than expected, need to flip top step so holes are in right place for bead lock, need more stone fill. Will finish with vermiculite that wasn’t used.

That looked like it took them all of one day? Must be nice.... :ROFLMAO:
Yep, floor in one day. 5 guys (lots of experience): 75 years old, 67 years old, 60 years old, 35 years old, and 25 years old. Spending way too many pennies on this, but every penny is well spent (just wish I had these guys 2 years ago!).

Going a little out of order for a typical install. Liner and water are going in tomorrow!!!!! Might be the last day we get here in Cleveland that is warm enough to put the liner in this year, so kind of forced our hand a bit. Will post pictures tomorrow, day got away from me and sun went down before I could take any.

One question for all of you: PB suggested maybe just waiting until spring to put salt in, just using LC to set up and close pool, then worry about salt and SWG in the spring. That make sense? In all honesty, the water is going to be so cold putting it in, and it's going to stay cold (we have snow forecasted next week already!) that I'm wondering if I even need to do anything with the water, it's going to be an ice cube for the next 6 months until I open it.

Go ahead and test your fill water for pH and TA as those are the most important for liner life down the road.
Here's my post with my fill water numbers from earlier this year when I was asking for help testing with color blindness.

FC 0.5
pH 6.8
CH 50
TA 170 (revised to 100 after following directions properly!)
CYA 0

CC 0
Salt 200
TC 0.5

Thanks for the tips. I already looked to see where my meter was at and we only average about 125 gallons per day, so expecting nearly 35,000 gallons for the fill I am not too worried about monitoring my usage for dishes/showers/etc. I think our washing machine only uses like 7 gallons per load or something very small. If being off by 0.3% affects my chlorination, I don't know how I'll ever get it right. I'm expecting to have to pay about $300 in water charges. Not sure what water rates are elsewhere, but glad I live in the Great Lakes region where water is in abundance. Worry and pray a lot for all those in drought-stricken areas. The only question for me is whether I will have to pay the additional $300 to the sewer district. Our sprinkler program only runs through Sep 30th, so I haven't gotten confirmation that the sewer district won't let me off the hook for this. Will check again in the morning with them, but doesn't look promising.

Which would be an unfortunate abuse on their part, considering you can clearly prove that the 35K is not headed for the sewer system. If you don't get the answer you want, then try going up the chain until you do.
