Hey ToC and Welcome !!!

We moved from a wooded property to alongside a farm. I lost 50 oak leaves in each skimmer and gained 50 potato bugs / beetles. Whattayagonado?

Oh no I don’t want to swim with bugs! 😢 I like to enjoy swimming at night with my tiki torches lit. Thanks for your reassurance 😊
Hate the bugs too but not much we can do. I live an a very rural area and I'd hate to know what the actual spider population around my house is because I'd say since June I've reduced by about 20,000 via my pool.....it's disturbing lol

Ugh! Spiders are the worst. This is my first time having a pool so I’m not used to the bugs. I thought maybe I’m doing something wrong that’s attracting these beetles. I guess bugs are going to happen with outdoor pools, something I will just have to get used to lol

We also had bats at the old place. No matter how many times they dive bombed the mosquitoes flying 2 ft over your head in the pool, no matter how much you knew they weren't coming for you, it never got less creepy. :ROFLMAO: Them sumgums fly so messed up it's just not right.

I'm Ok with beetles at the new place.

Crawling water beetles in my pool! What is up with that? They come at night. Found 12 of them. Ugh I hate bugs and my levels are all ideal.
Wait till you discover that they bite!!! They eat mosquito larva though so don’t kill them. Skim them out and relocate them.

Well it depends actually. Some types do. If they are water boatmen then they eat algae. Backswimmers bite and are the ones that eat mosquito larva.
The ones in my pool look just like this. I hope these aren’t the ones that bite. Thank you for letting me know 😰

Just want to thank you guys for setting my mind at ease. No beetles yet this evening (so far). Also just a question. I was using tricolor pucks in a floater but since my cya has hit 50 I switched to cal hypo granules. Would just liquid chlorine be preferable and if so any recommendations on a brand or where to purchase it? Thanks guys 😊🙌
