Making an Easy Touch 4 into an Easy Touch 8

I recently had a Pentair Suplerflo VS pump put in to replace a single speed pump that died. The only issue is I cannot control it through my Pentair Easy Touch system or Screen Logic app without using an external cable and connecting it to relays. My problem is as you can see there are only 4 relays. It looks like I have the space to add 4 more relays and on the board I have slots to connect them (J12-J15). Is it as simple as buying more relays and connecting them? If so does anyone have part #'s for them (3HP?)? Or am I missing something else?

I also know I do not need to add all 4 speeds to my system but I'd like to add at least two. I was thinking on whether I could keep my current configuration. I no longer use the Cleaner so that's one relay available. I'm assuming I'll need to keep the Filter Pump relay, that when I do programming it will have to be on for as long as I have the vsp running as well as programming the individual relays to come on at different times. Although now that I think about it, my SWG is connected to the Filter Pump relay so I will need to keep that one. Guess I'm back to adding more relays if possible.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

You could have your base rpm setting using the Filter/Pump relay. Then your rpm #2 on the other relay.

EDIT -- only issue would be mixing voltages on the relay. With a SWCG that could be an issue. Study that.

I’m looking at page 5 of my Superflo VST manual. I was mistaken when I said it was a VS. looks like I only use the yellow and green wires from the cable and connect it to comm port. Will have to look more into that. I’m assuming it would need two unused ports.

The struggle is finding the cable.

Thanks again. I can see that now. I’ll look some more but saw a few that might be getting them in the next few months.

Brett,

There is just one com port in the EasyTouch. Since you have the Saltwater version, you have 3 additional connection points, but they are all electrically the same com port.

The Main board has J20. J20 is connected to the Surge card (SWCG power supply card). The Surge card has three ports. One used to connect to J20 and the other two are empty.

It looks like this and is behind the main panel.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I’ll go have a look. I think I used one of the two empty ones when I hooked up ScreenLogic. But should have at least one open if so. Now to just find the cable.
